Paramount Pictures to Produce The Legend of Korra Movie?

Posted on August 17th, 2012 by Keval

Paramount Pictures is on the move again. According to Variety, the studio recently hired seven new writers to help with future animation projects. It has also been confirmed that Brad Grey, the chief of Paramount Pictures, has been in search for potential projects for the Studio.

Recent reports suggest that Grey has decided to turn to Paramount Picture’s sister division, Nickelodeon, for a supply of IP’s. Of the potential IP’s listed, the only one that struck me was “The Legend of Korra”.

To start filling a pipeline, Paramount chief Brad Grey is turning to sister division Nickelodeon to supply much of the IP including “Dora the Explorer,” “The Legend of Korra” and “Monkey Quest.”

After M. Night Shyamalan’s disaster of an ‘Avatar Movie’, I can understand why some people may be against this movie. But before you make quick judgments please understand that this movie would be animated. After all, Paramount Picture’s Animated Studio is involved.

I personally think that a Legend of Korra movie would be awesome – if it is done correctly.

A movie based on the 6 month gap between Book 1 and Book 2 would be spectacular. The film could talk about the aftermath of the Equalist Regime and introduce the multitude of problems most would anticipate after such an uprising. And it could act as a transition from Book 1 to Book 2 so the fandom wouldn’t miss a beat.

Those are just my ideas.

But please keep in mind that as exciting as a potential movie is, it’s not confirmed. Paramount Pictures has strongly hinted at the idea of doing a movie, but no one has come out to say that it will be done. So until then, it is only a possibility.

While you wait, check out the live action movie based on Aang’s journey: The Last Airbender. It’s not very good (It’s not really worth finishing), but it’s worth a quick look.

Really they try to make a movie of the legend of korra. If they make a movie they will screw this movie up big time. They all ready screwed up the last airbender. And we need them to screw up the legend of korra I don't think so. On less they do't mess up the movie by not seeking some of the parts of the show just so they can save time and money Iam all right with that.

Well it looks like Mike and Bryan would be involved. Plus it's animation so I think it could be alright.

i want a atla movie first before we make a lok movie. I loved atla and i would like to wrap up the atla storyline with at least two movie dealing with the promise and the search.

That would actually be a great idea! I'd love to see The Promise and The Search become movies! :)

I would agree with this only if they weren't making graphic novels on what happens to team avatar after the events of sozin's comet. I just picked up part 1 of the promise today, and I would say they did a very good job of keeping up with the pace of ATLA.

Either way, I would love to see an animated full length movie on either one of the series. As long as it didn't tie into the show in terms of story. I don't want to need to watch this movie to understand what is going on in the show, I want it to just be an extra special adventure for the gang.

    YAY!!!!

I would be totally behind a Legend of Korra movie if they did it right. It would be great if it covered new material rather than just rehashing book one and if it was animated with Mike and Bryan involved. :) I just hope that if it happens it doesn't get screwed up like ATLA was

Yeah, as long as they keep M. Night away from the film, it should be good provided it's animated.
