Legend of Korra Book 2 Episode Speculation: The Festival

Posted on September 5th, 2012 by Keval

This is a series in which I speculate episodes of Book 2 of The Legend of Korra based on the Comic-Con pictures. I will do separate articles that intertwine chronologically to create my own, speculative story.

It’s already been confirmed that Book 2 of The Legend of Korra will open up with a festival scene in the Southern Watertribe. But when you first lay eyes on the Watertibe, you’ll notice that it’ll look exceptionally different from when we last fully saw it in The Last Airbender. The fact is that the Avatar World has changed quite a bit in the last 70 years, and the Southern Watertribe isn’t an exception.

On with the speculation:

In the first picture, we see some sort of carnival game-booth that basically confirms the event to be some sort of festival or celebration. Book 2 takes place 6 months after the conclusion of Book 1, and Avatar Korra has likely returned to the Southern Watertribe for the first time in a while provided that her new home is indeed Republic City. This leads me to believe that the festival will most likely be something of a “welcome home” party for Korra.

And a celebration for Korra would make sense: after all, she is a fully realized Avatar who just saved all of Republic City from Amon. A celebration that both welcomes Korra home and recognizes her accomplishments isn’t out of the realm of possibilities.

In the next image, we see an enormous castle-like structure. The Southern Watertribe is no longer the igloo-infested ice land that we’re used to: the tribe has developed significantly. This castle-like structure will likely be the setting for much of the festival. I believe that Korra and the Gang will arrive inside this building once the ‘carnival-part’ of the festival is over, and start dinner – something Sokka would have looked forward to the most.

In this image, we see a large hall that is most likely the interior of the large castle we saw in the first picture. The hall includes many tables which most likely confirms that Korra and the Gang will dine here after the festivities.

If you look closely towards the top of the image, you’ll notice that there is another table that is essentially the VIP section, most likely intended for Korra and the Gang.

That’s where the festival scene will likely end: Korra and the Gang will eat, talk and have fun. Then out of nowhere, the problems of the Avatar World will begin to rise.

Excellent wonderful post as usual keep it up!!

Do you think anything out of the ordinary might interrupt the festival?

Yes I do, and I'll explain that in the next article in the series :)

Ok I know this might sound like I'm a five year old in the backseat of a car on the way to the beach but when do you think the next article might be because I'm addicted!! I literally only get on my email to look to see if you've written anything…Thanks!

          I appreciate it :)

Honestly, I don't know. I do get a bit of homework every day. I guess it'll depend on my homework schedule. I might have it up by tomorrow.

    What do you mean by:

"and Avatar Korra is likely back in the Southern Watertribe for the first time since she left. This leads me to believe that the festival will most likely be something of a “welcome home” party for Korra." ?

She was home in the Southern Water tribe right at the end of Season 1.

Otherwise great post, thanks :) !

Oh, sorry, I worded that awfully. What I meant was that she'd return to the Southern Watertribe after a long stay in Republic City, provided that RC is where she now lives.

I updated the posts. Thanks for pointing that out.

Well I see the southern watertribe changed a little bit but by seeing the northern watertribe has changed a lot I mean a lot but I want to see if the sprit world has changed.

Never thought about the spirit world changing, nice though!
