Track Team Currently Creating Sound Effects for Spirits in Book 2 of The Legend of Korra

Posted on February 5th, 2013 by Keval

The actual production status of Book 2 of The Legend of Korra has been heavily overshadowed the past few months. Part of the reason for this is because we haven’t really received any news about the production status thus far. We’ve known that the voice work has been done for quite some time, but other than that, we weren’t really told much about the production timeline.

It turns out that the always-quiet Track Team decided to turn the mood earlier today by using Twitter to talk about Book 2’s current production. According to them, the next objective in completing Book 2 is to implement sound effects for the Spirits.

You can see the actual Twitter feed below:

Time to figure out what spirits sound like……….

Now I don’t want to speculate too much about where Mike and Bryan are in terms of completing Book 2 since I know nothing about the development of an animated series, but it looks like the team is definitely hitting the final stretch.

During the process of creating a film, the sound team generally sits in a room and tries to recreate the sounds one would expect to hear in a movie such as the squeak of a door or the stomp of a heavy boot. This process generally starts when the sound team has clips to work with and use as a guideline to recreate specific sounds.

But The Legend of Korra isn’t just another film; it’s an animated series, so it’s tough to predict where Mike and Bryan stand in the process.

All in all, I think it would be wise not to speculate too much and just take this news for what it’s worth: Book 2 is still in production and the next step in the process is sound effects.

I'm not sure how long it takes to develop the sound effects for the show, but it has to take a while, so they better stay on it! I expect Korra back in April. I don't think I'd be able to tolerate a postponed season premiere of Book 2!

    • kat

i think they should make episodes to book 2 because i cant wait any longer im dieing to see more off the legend of KORRA pls MAKE MORE EPISODES PPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPLLLLLLLLLLLLLLSSSSSSSSSS.

      • kat

AND good jod track team or who makes this GOOD JOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • http://avatarthelegendofkorra.wordpress.com AdminAvatar

Yeah I'm not too sure how long the sound effects will take. Hopefully we still get it in April. It seems a little optimistic now, but still possible!

      Thanks for commenting :)

  • Diana

It must be really hard to do sound effects and stuff.

    • http://avatarthelegendofkorra.wordpress.com AdminAvatar

It does seem rather tedious. From what I've heard, they use anything and everything they can get their hands on to make sounds. It's all about creativity – a perfect job for the track team. It seems like all of their tracks are creative and unique.

      Thanks for commenting!

I look at it like this, the animation portion must be finished because scoring is done last. Even in animation the scorers must watch the show as it is once finished. That means they are very close to being finished, which means that maybe we won't have to wait so long.

      Hey Joey,

Yeah that's exactly what I was thinking, but I didn't want to write it because I had no proof.

But yeah, it certainly looks like the animation could be done. If that's the case, we could be looking at a quick release date from here on out. Most likely April.

      Thanks for the comment! :)

I heard, when people make a movie or something, music is ALWAYS the last part of production..Just Sayin' !

    • http://avatarthelegendofkorra.wordpress.com AdminAvatar

I think you're right! This could be a good sign, a VERY good sign! :)

  • http://avatarthelegendofkorra.wordpress.com cement

i dont know why but i have a feeling they might sound dubstepy or like if they used a synthesiser… but i might be wrong cuz mike and bryan are just too awesoem

    • http://avatarthelegendofkorra.wordpress.com AdminAvatar

That would be whacked out if they were like dubstep Spirits. I could dig it.

  • Emma

It seems like they are almost done since sound effects is usually what is done last when they make movies and tv, so I don't know about you guys but I am definitely expecting for them to announce the release date in march, and start airing it in April. Just like last year! :)

    • kat

      i agree to

    • Obamaniqua

I actualy think they are going to announce the release date at 29th March, when that Anime Matura (or something) Con is going to be. That's what I think, and the nect day, there is going to be a promo,I guess,on tv…Or something like that…And that the series is going to be in mid-April…:D Sounds good..Right?
