Earlier today, Amazon published a product page for Book 1 of The Legend of Korra’s official soundtrack. According to Amazon, Book 1’s soundtrack will be available on July 16th, but it is currently available for pre-order. The fact that a soundtrack in itself was announced should be no surprise at this point – any announcement labeled as “exciting news” from the Track Team is going to be music-related. What is surprising, however, is that a soundtrack was released for The Legend of Korra rather than The Last Airbender. Let me explain…
I started covering this topic back in January, and based on what I was hearing at the time, 2013 looked to be the year for Nickelodeon to release The Last Airbender’s soundtrack. Back in December, someone tweeted Jeremy Zuckerman (member of the Track Team) asking whether or not they should expect a soundtrack for The Last Airbender. Jeremy replied by saying that 2013 was looking promising.
Someone then went on to tweet Jeremy several weeks later asking if they should expect a Legend of Korra soundtrack soon. Jeremy replied saying that it was looking good.
You can see the entire conversation embedded below:
@bombraker We’ve got a couple great people championing the cause. Don’t want to say too much but 2013 is looking good.

@luke_s99 it’s looking good…!

Based on that conversation, one would probably assume that Nickelodeon would release The Last Airbender’s soundtrack this year and release The Legend of Korra’s soundtrack another year.
That’s what I assumed, anyways, so either I was completely wrong or plans just happened to change.
But that’s where my logic came from – that’s why I was so strongly assuming that the Track Team would announce The Last Airbender’s soundtrack this June rather than The Legend of Korra’s soundtrack.
I’m just excited to know that Nickelodeon is finally releasing the Track Team’s phenomenal music to the Avatar Fandom.
