David Faustino Thinks Book 3 will Premiere in September

Earlier this evening, David Faustino (voice of Mako) had PJ Byrne (voice of Bolin) on his radio show titled Old Scratch Radio.

The duo discussed plenty of topics unrelated to Korra, but they did speak briefly about Book 3 and its release date. At one point during the show, David Faustino said Book 3 would be coming in September. Quickly after, PJ Byrne interjected and said “maybe.”

As expected, Twitter blew up and everyone and their mother were tweeting things like Book 3 in September, OMG! @NickelodeonTV, WTF? Why do we have to wait until September?

I almost let it play out, but I eventually interjected. First off, it’s worth noting that PJ Byrne did say “maybe” which suggests that David Faustino’s statement was pure speculation. For those suggesting that Byrne’s reply was meant to be a cove-up, I should remind you that voice actors know just about as much as we do when it comes to the premiere date of Book 3. Remember when Janet Varney (voice of Korra) “confirmed” the premiere date of Book 2 last year on Twitter? Varney stated that Book 2 would premiere in April, but – as you probably remember – it didn’t premiere until September.

Moral of the story, voice actors know very little when it comes to television scheduling. They simply don’t have access to that kind of information because it’s not a part of their job. To clear the chaos on Twitter, I essentially summed up all the information above in 140 characters. To my surprise, David Faustino noticed the tweet, even though I didn’t mention him, and acknowledged it. Here is what I tweeted:

Aside from the obvious grammatical error, you’ll notice that David Faustino retweeted my tweet which essentially means he agreed with what I had to say.

What this means is that David Faustino was simply publicizing his thoughts as to when Book 3 will air. Nothing was confirmed by him. As we learned multiple times last year, Book 3’s premiere date won’t be confirmed until the head honchos over at Nickelodeon announce it themselves. Anything you hear from outside sources is pure speculation. We obviously shouldn’t completely ignore Faustino’s input, but it would be unwise to assume Book 3 will premiere in September simply because he says so.

Just to keep the record straight, I still firmly believe Book 3 will premiere either this April or May – although I am beginning to lean towards May since I was expecting to have an official trailer by now.

  • Aang

So its gonna be April/May? I am really confused here many people say that its gonna be winter/fall and looks like this voice actor is predicting that it will be fall. What to believe!?

    • Guest

I personally think Book 3 will DEFINITELY air in April/May. I’ve been voicing this opinion ever since Bryan first told use that him and his team received the first four episodes of Book 3 (No joke go back to some of the post from a few months ago lol.) Not only did Bryan say that Book 3 is coming “soon” but so did Nick/KorraNation. Fall/Winter isn’t soon, Spring on the other hand is. I don’t think both Bryan and Korra Nation would give us false information. And for those worried about marketing, Nick usually only spends about a month marketing Korra before it airs. So their is still plenty of time for them to start rolling out some Book 3 commercials! And I think it’s pretty much a fact that most if not all of the episodes for Book 3 have been completed. Why would Nick wait a whole six months to air a show that has been completed since March? TV networks are all about ratings, and by now Nick should know that if they wan’t to keep fans interested they can’t make us wait for too long. A lot of people don’t even know that there is a Book 3. Six months from now people won’t even remember that Korra ever existed (OK, Maybe I’m exaggerating a little, but you get what I’m saying.) So if Nick want’s to actually do a good job at marketing Book 3, they need to get the ball rolling right now! And It shouldn’t be that hard for Nick to put Korra back into the line up. Not only is it a returning show, but it’s one of their highest rated shows. So if you look at this from a logical and financial standpoint, it would be a terrible decision to air Book 3 in Fall/Winter. Keep your eyes out for Spring 2014! :)

  • KorraFan7

T___T I hate it when actor’s say something is going to come out on some day and it doesn’t come out.Janet Varney was wrong about Book 2 and I think David Faustino is wrong about Book 3. They said Book 3 is not going to be a long wait like Book 2. I hope Book 3 is next month or May or June. I don’t think I can wait that long if it does comes out in September :( That’s too damn long! I was sick of waiting for Book 2 to come out now I’m sick of waiting for Book 3 to come out. They need to show a trailer for Book 3. But no they show all those other shows and that just pisses me off. The Legend of Korra to me is the best show on Nick. But I don’t think Nick cares about the show and cares about the other shows more. They better show a trailer for Book 3 soon or i’m going to be so pissed! Damn it! Sorry for be being on angry xD The Legend of Korra is my favorite show that’s why I’m so angry.

  • ajames123

Nick’s answer is final. its completely useless to listen to the creators when it comes to release dates.

There we go. That’s logical thinking. Nickelodeon cannot afford to wait until Fall. Also, Bryan did keep trying to tell us that Book 3 is right around the corner the day Book 2 ended.

      • Legama

You know whats the funny thing, Nick doesn’t seems to follow any known logic.

        • Link9150

We can’t really know that. It looks that way because almost everyone is whining, crying and complaining about them. Sure, they prolonged Book 2 but they didn’t do anything wrong so far. The only thing to do is wait as of now.

    • Matt Brown

Josh, I totally agree!!! Just a few months ago, I was looking at The Legend of Korra Online to see Keval’s review of the Book 2 finale and once I was done, I went to a different not so well known blog just to see what they thought of the finale. So while I was scrolling tbrough that blog’s comments somebody said “Wait, Book 2 of Korra is already over? I didn’t even know that Book 2 came out. I thought that by this point, Nickelodeon just decided to cancel the show because its been SO LONG since Book 1 ended. I had no idea Book 2 even existed” or they said something along those lines. This was very disturbing news. This just goes to show that when it came to marketing and advertising Book 2, Nickelodeon did a terrible job. Not only that but the wait was too long (the wait was understandable since Book 2 had to be made from scratch). But since Book 3 is near if not already completed, than why wait? Hopefully they learn from their mistakes during this off season.

      • Wyatt

Agreed… Although, since I’m a salty bastard, I’ll have to correct you on the fact that the review for the Book 2 finale (and all of the other episode reviews) were written by me… LOL. Honest mistake :)

        • Link9150

You’re not a salty bastard, you’re just getting credit for your own work :)

          • Wyatt

            :)

        • Matt Brown

I am so sorry Wyatt. I think I should just start paying more attention to the publisher names. I’ll go back and make the correction

  • Loklover

Well Janet Varney said that Book 2 would premiere in April and it premiered in September. Maybe David Faustino is saying that book 4 is gonna premiere September but it’s actually gonna premiere in April!! (:
    Janet V: April- September
    David F: September- April
The release months are flip flopped!! They’re playing mind games with us now!! Lol. I think book 3 will premiere in April. Idk I’m just trying to get as much “information” and somehow get a release date out of it haha. I’m goin mad over here guys lol

    • Loklover

Edit: in the 3rd line, the “4” us supposed to be a 3

  • Josh

@Keval Sorry about posting my comment three times lol. I tried to delete two of them, but it’s still there and now says guest. You can delete the two comments that say guest. The one I wan’t to keep is the one with my actual name.

    • http://avatarthelegendofkorraonline.com/ Keval

      Totally fine.

      • Josh

        OK

  • Loklover

And honestly, why do the voice actors give out false information? Even though they say it “could” be premiering in September.. it fuels the fandom. I don’t want them to give us false hope either. I want a straight answer!

    • KorraFan7

I think it’s stupid. Voice actors don’t know unless if they ask the Nick staff. I hate false Korra news. Just like when Janet Varney said Book 2 will be out on April and it didn’t T__T

      • Loklover

Yeah. False Korra news is annoying af. We just wanna straight answer

        • KorraFan7

False Korra news is annoying. Agreed! I just want true Korra answers not fake ones :(

          • Link9150

There has never been false news, only speculation. Why is everyone raging right now? The show has only been in hiatus for 4 moths, everything is normal so far.

          • Loklover

I swear it doesn’t even seem like it’s been 4 months lol.

          • KorraFan7

This is my favorite show ever. I get angry when they don’t have any new news for it :(

    • Matt Brown

THE FANDOM NEEDS TO STOP ATTACKING THE VOICE ACTORS AND ACTRESSES! When they say something, its not to get the fandom hyped up, or trick us, and its not because they think they know everything. IT’S JUST THEIR PERSONAL OPINION! They are simply speculating as to when they think the show might air. Not inly that but they work just as hard on the show as anyone else. So lets not attack them for simply giving an opinion on when they THINK Book 3 might air. Honestly…

      • Ariana Moreno

hm, i apologize if i came off that way, because it wasn’t my goal, i’m just saying that i’m only gonna accept what the creators say or what the network says. lets just hope that everything goes according to plan.

        • Link9150

          SHAME ON YOU >:(

          • Ariana Moreno

            sowwy XD

            i’m sowwy mr.link X)

          • Korrava

For shame Ariana, for shame. XD

          • Ariana Moreno

hahaha XD i’m sowwy. i’ll behave woman Xp

          • Korrava

Go on the forum, I must chat with you. lol

        • Matt Brown

          No prob

      • Loklover

Well they should know better than to give out their “speculations” cuhs most of the fandom believes them. They just need to be quiet and let Nick or Bryke give the public an OFFICIAL release date.

        • Matt Brown

Or the fandom could stop taking everything so seriously. What have we been doing for the past 4 months? Speculating. What did we do for 15 months between Book 1 and Book 2? We speculated. And we should know hy now that the only Nickelodeon has the say on this stuff. They’re entitled to an opinion just like the rest of us.

          • Loklover

Yeah the FANDOM speculates, but it’s no big deal for us because we have no idea when the show is even gonna air. The voice actors are the show, their speculations are what fans believe the most.

And Honestly, if I wasn’t introduced to this blog, I wud have taken David’s speculation seriously. Lol

      • KorraFan7

Well. I’m not mad at the actor’s. Well I do think it’s stupid to say something comes out on a day when it doesn’t. I’m mad at the Nick staff for not showing a freakin Trailer for Book 3 yet :(

  • daniel yefru

LMAO! I REMEMBER THIS TWEET I WAS SCARED TO DEATH

  • daniel yefru

    david faustino-the next janet varney-

  • Link9150

This fandom… They will never learn from the last hiatus between Book 1 and Book 2. Never listen to voice actors, even if they “confirm” something. The only two people you listen to are the creators and Nick… Also, Bryan emphasized on “SOON” this is the perfect time to just have faith and patience. Other shows air once a year, just look at Sherlock, season 3 took almost 2 years to air after season 2.

  • Aang

So i should expect a Spring release? Most of you guys are suggesting that so ok lets look forward to Spring 2014! :)

  • Ariana Moreno

I don’t want excuses, I want results!! O.O c’mon already, bring on book 3 man! No more speculation, guesses, or any of this uncertainty.

    • Aang

Yes there is too much confusion.David guy said September and most of the fandom over here says Spring………

      • Ariana Moreno

no, like everyone says, don’t listen to voice actors, or anyone else except for creators and network, but i don’t wanna hear this from people anymore. i just want a final answer like loklover said, and i want book 3 now O.O

        • Aang

Book 3 now? That ain’t possible yo the earliest can be by May….maybe XD

          • Ariana Moreno

i just don’t want a fall release, and because this wasn’t from the creators or nick, i’m not gonna buy it. voice actors can guess and say anything

          • Aang

Yes i know. The big question is when will it release! I at least need an approximate thing…

          • Loklover

Yeah I agree. And I hate it when the voice actors guess when the Lok release date is. Why can’t they just be quiet and let nick and Bryke handle it so this (fandom raging and getting mad at the voice actors) doesn’t happen?! All they need is ONE announcement by Nick to give us an OFFICIAL release date. Is it that hard to do? I mean seriously..I don’t want speculations. I want a straight frickin answer

    • http://avatarthelegendofkorraonline.com/ Keval

Relax, it’s only been 4 months since Book 2 ended.

      • Ariana Moreno

in the words of korra, “i hate this being patient stuff” it’s a struggle for me really XD

      • Matt Brown

Keval’s right. We’ll be lucky to even get Book 3 in May. I mean honestly, that would be only a five month wait. That’s excellent. As long as the wait doesn’t surpass a year or even come close, then the fandom would be getting lucky. I am leaning towards June. NICKELODEON NEEDS TO ADVERTISE BOOK 3 BETTER THAN THEY DID BOOK 2! I’d be more than ok if we got Book 3 later on, just for advertisement and marketing’s sake.

  • Legama

Premiere date won’t surpass the Summer Season, July is the last possible month. Anything further would be bullshit from Nick.
But hey, at least we know Book 3 is airing this year.
Putting my bets on May, and Book 3 better be worth the wait ¬¬

  • Cookie

Even though Book 3 isn’t completed yet, another thing to keep in mind is the production of Book 4; even though THAT’S still a while from now, it’s still in the early stages of production, and from the distributors’ end, they’d likely want a certain amount of that complete so that by the time Book 3 finishes airing, there won’t be another major hiatus between the two. Just a thought – I’m personally thinking of a May/June airdate.

  • Matt Brown

Im leaning towards June. I say this because I remeber when Book 1 of ATLA thru Book 1 of TLOK were on the verge of coming out coming out within the next two months we were still getting commercials and advertisements. Book 3 of ATLA came out in September of 2007 and we were seeing commercials for it during June and got a full blown trailer for it at the 2007 San Diego Comic Con. And then they even took a short 3-4 month break, which ultimately split Book 3 Fire in half after the Day off Black Sun aired. I think they’re gonna air Book 3 in early June or late June. Hopefully nothing later than mid July. And I think they’re gonna split Book 4 in half and air it in two seperate parts. Kind of like they did with Book 3 of ATLA or like what they do with the Walking Dead. Keval what do you think about my theorie???

    • http://avatarthelegendofkorraonline.com/ Keval

I can understand your theory. One thing for sure is that there’s typically advertisements spanning two months before the Book premieres. As each month goes by without a trailer, my prediction for Book 3’s premiere will increase by a month. I truly hope we get a trailer before the end of April.

      • Matt Brown

Ikr. I cant see them pushing the air date past June. Hopefully July at the latest.

  • Sibis

Nicklodeon was wishy-washy with their scheduling of Book 2. So don’t believe anything related to scheduling with this channel.

  • Jack Spaulding

UPDATE: From Zuckerman. I dont think things will release in April as said as it is to say.. He just posted music (ideas) that he is composing for Book 3 and said non of it is orchestrated yet.

Jeremy Zuckerman Yeah, this stuff is all just broad strokes. Nothing is orchestrated or complete here. It helps me to have this pad on hand to refer back to and develop ideas throughout the season.
