Don’t Expect Book 2 News in June – Expect an Announcement for Avatar: The Last Airbender’s Soundtrack

A little over a week ago, the Track Team came out and announced that some “exciting news” would be coming soon. Soon after that, the Track Team went into a bit more detail and announced that fans should expect the news in early June. At a first glance, most would probably assume that we’d be getting Book 2 news in June. But if you really think about it, would receiving Book 2 news in June make any sense?

To be quite frank, no, receiving Book 2 news in June would make little to no sense at all.

The reason why I say this is because as of now, there are really only two things this fandom is waiting for – a release date and trailer. With Comic-Con coming this July, it wouldn’t be a stretch to assume that we’ll be getting both a release date and trailer during the convention. If this really is the case and Nickelodeon is saving these two announcements for Comic-Con, what type of Book 2 news should we expect to hear in June?

We could receive some sort plot details in regards to Book 2, but my gut tells me that they’d save that information for Comic-Con too. After all, wouldn’t it be perfect if Comic-Con showed us a trailer, announced the release date, then talked more about Book 2’s plot? That’s the dream scenario that could very well become a possibility in July.

The fact of the matter is that there is really nothing substantial that would be worth revealing in June. Nickelodeon is likely saving the “big guns” for Comic-Con. It wouldn’t make sense for Nickelodeon to waste time doing a minor reveal of Book 2 in June and then do a massive reveal during Comic-Con. It would make more sense for Nickelodeon to save everything for huge reveal at Comic-Con.

But despite that fact that I don’t think we’ll get any Book 2 news in early June, I still expect to receive some sort of exciting news next month.

For the sole reason that the Track Team is making this announcement, I have a good feeling that next months exciting news will be an announcement for Avatar: The Last Airbender’s soundtrack. A soundtrack is something that’s been longed for by the fandom for years now, and it’s only a matter of time before Nickelodeon makes an announcement for it.

But of course, this is merely my opinion. What are your thoughts on this matter?

  • PerformerFX

    Seems plausible

  • Fehx

I’m so sick of this. Nickelodeon and Bryke have completely left us in the dark. Everytime we get our hopes up, we get dissapointed, and to be honest, I don’t even care anymore about Book 2, and this is coming from a hardcore avatar fan.

    • Jim

Bryke has done nothing wrong, but I get where you’re coming from.

    • Mowalski

The wait for Book 2 really has been a long one, but you have to bear in mind all the production work that’s involved with creating each episode. We have storyboarding, animation, voice-acting, screening, etc. In some cases, this process can take up to a year and often times the staff have to work on multiple projects simultaneously.

Maybe this wait isn’t such a bad thing, since it gives the creators more time to think over their decisions and produce top quality work. It seems a bit selfish for fans to keep bagging Nickelodeon and Bryke for an issue that otherwise cannot be helped.

  • Natsu

but until April Stewart said something about June on his twitter

  • cement

as long as the music is coo.,… i dont care…..

  • Orange9746

Well, it’s about time they finally decided to release the ATLA soundtrack. Anime and movie soundtracks make good money by selling soundtracks and I enjoyed the music in ATLA and I hope they can release the official soundtrack for LoK too.

  • Watertribeguy

seriously, i really would like to know what is the hold up on ANY book 2 information. C’mon, this is already the 2nd comic con where they’re still talking about book 2. It’s a nightmare that’s neverending.

  • Billy

I’d love a soundtrack. I’ve wanted the piece where Aang goes into the avatar state and begins to chase Ozai for so long….

  • Emily Anderson

Yeah, I agree, especially since this “exciting news” came from the Track Team. I really hope we at least get a little info about Book 2 this month, though; even if it’s only a skewed image on Bryan’s Tumblr, I’ll be happy.

  • crystalline

I think it makes sense that this exciting news would be a sound track for avatae the last airbender; however, it would make sense to release something about book 2 in june. Although it would be good to save the info for comic con they couod still get us excited and reawaken the fandom by releasing information hinting about the release of lok. Then people will really anticioate comic con and get excites for a trailer. Thats just my opinion. It makes perfect sense to me even though its very unlikely the track team would announce info on book 2s release it is still possible and not completely a silly idea.

  • MitchGunner

As much as I love the music in Avatar, I can’t see myself listening to a soundtrack, although because the Track Team does such a fantastic job I hope that their music gets released. And in terms of Book 2 info, I’ve been pretty determined that we are going to have to wait until Comic-Con, so disappointment hasn’t struck me yet. *I pat my back, and then look around to see if anyone saw me do that*

  • Filmeditor16

That’s kind of what I was thinking since the the beginning of April. At comic con it will attract fans and it will attract media news websites to help spread the word. If they did it now, it wouldn’t really cause the stir of excitement they want. They don’t really have any program to advertise Korra with right now. Like for example, it would be totally weird if they released a coming soon trailer in a commercial break of Sam and Cat. I’m just assuming right now that a trailer and date will be released at comic con. They might tweet out in late June/early July that the creators will be hosting a panel at comic con and there will be some book 2 news released blah blah blah. And I will try to wait as patiently as I can for that long awaited info.

  • Filmeditor16

Until then, a little over 53 days until SDCC

  • DunbansBiggestFanForever

I don’t mean to offend anyone, but if I’m supposed to feel “excited” about a release date for TLA soundtrack, I’m gonna have to disagree there. The soundtrack has some really good music don’t get me wrong, but its not exactly track after track of genius music. There’s like three songs that are worth listening to just to pass time. Everything else only sounds good when you hear it accompanying the animation and the action. But whatever…

    • HaZardous

Most original soundtracks for movies/TV shows/animes etc are this way to be honest. But it would be just be nice to have an official source for the tracks.

  • Guest

    One word; three syllables: PA-THE-TIC!

  • josh

No your right, I dont expect any shit hits the fan news until comic con or right before, but ofther than the atla soundtrack, they will throw us a little more on book2

  • HaZardous

They might, if nothing else, at least release the voice cast details for the new characters in June/early July. Sorta like announcing the news of who all would be attending the Korra panel at Comic-Con.

And whether this “exciting news” is a soundtrack or not, I honestly am not sure. It could go either way.

  • Seany

maybe we will find out what the names of book 3 and 4 are?

  • crystalline

Okay i have a question. Why would it be atla news if the track team said that it was gonna be .exciting korra news?

  • Katie

Dude your gut is smart :O I’d have never figured that out.

    • http://avatarthelegendofkorraonline.com/ Keval

      I appreciate the sarcasm.

  • korra11

i am tired of wait for lok to come out, please nick please give us an estimated release date. iv been waiting forever

  • chipo

This is how we all feel about the wait :D

  • bgonzalesp

    My letter to the producers:
I’ve been a fan since the beginning of Avatar, I have bought the DVDs, comics, Artbook, etc. but I’m very dissapointed for the latests news. I think deciding to produce 12 episodes of half an hour per year is a very bad strategy and marketing image. I can’t believe that, if highly complex TV series such as Game of thrones can create about 12 hours of content per year, you find it so difficult to produce a normal 24 episode season for Korra. I work in marketing and I know you have to create expectation and buzz, but all this waiting in the long term will only cause frustration and disengagement for the fans. It seems to me you are taking advantage of the dedication of fans, the ones that make the Avatar and Korra such a big success. I hope you are reconsidering taking your fans seriously and retribute them with what they deserve which is continuous 24-episode seasons of AVATAR, the series they love and support over the years.

    • MitchGunner

I wish that was possible, but at least we will be getting 4 seasons.

    • HaZardous

Avatar is animation, not live-action. Animation is considerably more difficult and time-consuming to make.

      • http://avatarthelegendofkorraonline.com/ Keval

Yes, this is correct. Animation takes MUCH longer than live-action.

  • kikasaurus

as of right now, I would be much more excited for the soundtrack rather than book 2.
not saying that im not excited for book 2!
