Explanation for New Book 2 Commercials Suggesting an Early Release Date

Sometime yesterday, Nickelodeon posted two new Legend of Korra Book 2 commercials on their official website. The commercials were very similar to the last commercial we received, the only difference being the premiere date listed for Book 2. The original commercial listed Book 2 to premiere on September 13th. The two commercials Nickelodeon recently released changed things up a bit and suggested that Book 2 would air this Friday or today. For some reason, many people believed this and I’ve been getting tweets and emails from many confused fans.

Book 2 will still be airing on September 13th. These two commercials Nickelodeon released are just commercials that they plan on airing when we get closer to the September 13th release date. For example, a week from Book 2’s release date, Nickelodeon will air the commercial stating that Book 2 will air this Friday. On September 13th, Nickelodeon will air the commercial stating that Book 2 will air today.

tonightNothing has changed in terms of Book 2’s release date. This is just an example of Nickelodeon looking to the future, but getting a little excited and jumping the gun.

I have no idea why Nickelodeon posted these two videos as they have only caused confusion so far. No matter the reason, fans now have an early look at the commercials they’ll be seeing in about a week’s time.

We’re almost there.

  • Noivern

    So looking forward to it!

  • Aeri

Anyone know where I can get a working time machine? No reason in particular :>

        Thank you. c:

    • Ace

Forget the time machine, do you know where I can find a virtual reality television? I mean, it wouldn’t use it selfishly so I could finally live my dream of being a waterbender in Legend of Korra… I’d also use it for ATLA so that I could meet Katara.

      • Aeri

No, I do not unfortunately. If events occur so that you obtain one, I’ll have a firebender to waterbender 1v1 with you.

        • Ace

That’s too bad. Anyways, good luck. Water beats fire, everyone knows that. Water is obviously the better element. Just letting you know the facts.

          • Aeri

You shush. D< Firing tons of fire blasts out of my hands and feet is way better than your 'magic splashes'.

          • Derrick

Oh please! Everyone knows that controlling the very winds that surround you is beast! Water is too situational for me and fire is nothing but extremely hot air that can be put out with strong gusts of air or even by waterbenders’ :magic splashes” as you put it Aeri. lol. Don’t even get me started on how air literally obliterates Earthbenders flying rocks. Did you see Aang’s air kick in the Avatar Roku episode where he destroyed the giant rock? If Sozin’s comet isn’t skimming the atmosphere giving firebenders god like powers, then airbenders could defeat all the others! lol

          • Joe

Bloodbending beats air though, and you can still use water from the air :)

          • Ace

Finally, some sense! Also, waterbending is the most versatile of the skills. With steam, you can’t see us. And you can’t see what you can’t hit. With water, I can redirect earthbending back at you, stop your silly little fire in its tracks, and airbending is only good for defense. With ice, I can freeze you airbenders in place, form a wall against any fire attacks, and counter any earthbending with ice. Water wins.

          • Aeri

Quit being awesome and technical about how you’d seriously kick our asses, it’s painful to read, yet fascinating at the same time. I might actually get a little tinge of hurt, just let us enjoy our element preferations please. >: @Derrick I prefer airbending out of all of the styles, too bad the monks are all pacifists! My personality is fire, though. Sad, right?

          • Ace

I use logic to win. Logic always wins. However, I’d have to agree that airbending takes second place. If people who weren’t pacifists practiced it, it could be lethal. It is also really awesome in general because it can negate most damage from bending and use the environment to its advantage. Firebending is third only because of its subset, electricity. Earthbending is last, in my opinion. Metalbending is cool, and so is seismic sense, but who wouldn’t want to go all Sith on someone and zap them once in a while?

          • Aeri

I somewhat agree on the places you described. Without Toph, earthbending would be horrible. If they didn’t have metalbending and seismic sense, then it’d be chucking rocks. Forever. Earthbending is definitely my least favorite type. Waterbenders really do know how to pwn everyone (yes I said pwn, is it 2010 again?) when they want to, but they’re so limited because of their lack of imagination most of the time. I said most, because of bloodbending and plantbending. Firebenders are always ready for combat, and orange eyes, black hair, and pale skin is hot. Seriously. No one can deny it. Not Mako’s ew ashy gray skin, but the pale skin of Azula and Zuko is just beautiful. Airbenders are truly unique to me, since they have the arrow tattoos and they’re pacifists. Truly an interesting culture.

          • Ace

Yeah, waterbenders seem to have the most limited imaginations out of all the benders. I don’t know why that is, since there are so many different techniques and combinations they could make. Firebenders are attractive to other Caucasians, but that is just one opinion. I’m sure Asians are attracted to airbenders, and African Americans are attracted to earthbenders, and Indians or Latinos are attracted to waterbenders. It’s all just preference. Personally, I think Katara was much more attractive than Azula. Then again, I didn’t like Azula much in the first place because she was evil and crazy, but yeah. Airbenders have a very interesting culture that I hope will be explained more in Book 2, as Tenzin and co. will be headed for the Air Temples.

          • Derrick

Yeah it is pretty much all opinion. I really do love airbending the most but waterbending is definitely my second favorite. My list is very similar to yours Ace except the first two would be switched. Mine is Air, Water, Fire, and Earth. Don’t get me wrong earthbending is cool, especially with metalbending, but like Aeri said, the cool style of Earthbending that everyone loves comes from Toph. Bumi is definitely mega-powerful but not as cool and unique as Toph. Without her, earthbending would kinda be boring with just stomp and kick. Repeat Process. Airbending doesn’t even need a subset to be awesome, but it’s still getting one in book 2 and I can’t wait to see it! And yes Ace, the fact that we’re going to see the Air Temples and hopefully some air nomad history makes me jump for joy!

But to get on the more recent topic being discussed, I definitely think Katara is the best looking female in the series. Of course Azula is VERY beautiful with her whole beautiful yet dangerous vibe, but she is still second to Katara IMO. Heck Katara actually takes that vibe of beautiful yet dangerous as well in Book 3 when she turned total BA. Sorry Ty Lee fans but Katara and Azula are better looking to me. lol

          • Ace

Ty Lee is just acrobatic and very girlish. That doesn’t really interest me, but I can understand why others like her. Her chi blocking is also really top notch, so she had that going for her. I just feel like she was a bit too naive.

          • Derrick

Exactly! Ty lee’s features just looks childish to me. She’s a nice, sweet girl and all but she came off as a sort of …. bimbo to be frank. When I look at her face the term I would use to describe her would be cute, but not attractive because that term is reserved for people who actually look like adults or at least teenagers. The ONLY thing that makes her look like she’s a teenager going through puberty is her chest which was proudly showing us its glory in the episode “The Beach.” lol! Perhaps I’ve said too much…… But seriously how did Bryke get away with that?!

          • afgf

I’m offensive and I find this Asian

          • Ace

            That’s nice.

          • Nathan

You are 100% correct. Water obviously wins. Still, I’m sure other elements fit some peoples’ personalities better.

Water Bending has always been my personal favorite. I think it might have had something to do with the fact that Katara was my favorite character in ATLA. (Iroh was definitely up there, though.)

If I could pick any super power, it would hands-down be Water Bending. Maybe someday….. ;P

          • Ace

I’d have to agree. Katara was my favorite character in ATLA. She just felt like the most relatable out of the group. Not only was the the only one that wasn’t already a master bender in their element by the time we had met them, even though they were still very young and it should take time and training, we got to see Katara make mistakes and learn how to bend. She quickly excelled in waterbending, and although Aang was at first progressing faster than her, Katara always had more skill and is the better waterbender in my opinion. Katara’s progress makes her more realistic than seeing a girl like Azula have a blue fire in her firebending, stronger than most other firebenders. Katara’s personality and sense of morality, understanding, and compassion also really make her my favorite character from ATLA.

          • Nathan

Exactly, I related to her quite well, myself. I, too, try to help others as much as I can, and try my best to do the right thing. When that fails, I apologize. Even from the first episode, I knew Katata was my favorite of the bunch.

What is your favorite episode from ATLA and TLOK?

          • Ace

That’s a hard choice. I think I would have to choose one from each Book. I would choose “The Waterbending Master” from Book 1 since Katara gets to show off her offensive bending skill. That, and the fight between her and Master Pakku was so awesome.
Book 2 would have to be “The Serpent’s Pass”. The episode was not only comical, it also gave away Toph’s crush on Sokka (when she accidentally kissed Suki). Katara’s waterbending skills were pretty cool too. It showed how strong she had become, with her making the bubble underwater, the ice path on the water, and the most impressive, the giant whirlpool that sucked the sea serpent down to the bottom of the lake.
In Book 3, it was “The Painted Lady” hands down. Beautiful and touching story. However, “The Day of the Black Sun” and “Sozin’s Comet” when she fought Azula were awesome as well. If you meant overall and not just about Katara, then it would most likely be “The Siege of the North, Part 1″.
As for LoK, it would be “When Extremes Meet”. It was definitely the most informational, as well as had that awesome bending scene between Tarrlock and Korra. Korra also stood up for the nonbenders’ rights, which I believe shows she has her heart in the right place.

          • Nathan

Interesting. I loved all those episodes, but my all time favorite from ATLA is “The Southern Raiders”. I loved exploring Katara’s past, and having her come to odds with her moral compass. On one hand, she had every right to want to kill them man that took her mother away from her, but on the other hand, it was still the wrong thing to do. Of course, she chose the right thing in the end.

On top of that, her finally forgiving Zuko, and us seeing that he was a good guy, and had truly changed made for a great episode. But the biggest reason it is my favorite episode is this quote right here: “I don’t know if it’s because I’m too weak to do it, or if it’s because I’m strong enough not to.” That quote is just so profound to me, and summaries the entire episode quite nicely.

As for picking favorites per book, I would have to agree that the finale for Book 1 of ATLA was superb in every way. I would definitely say that those
episodes are my favorite for Book 1.

For Book 2, my favorite would have to be the “Tales of Ba Sing Se”. I loved the individual stories of all the characters, particularly Uncle Iroh’s tale. It really showed how great of a person he is, and the ending of his story where he sings to his son’s picture under the tree was very touching.

As a side note (since I’m talking about Book 2 anyway), “Appa’s Lost Days” absolutely breaks my heart every time I watch it. So sad. :/

For Book 3, “The Southern Raiders” is my favorite (like I said before), but “The Painted Lady” would probably be my second pick because of Katara helping the village, and the real Painted Lady thanking her at the end.

That would be followed by “The Puppetmaster.” It was a
really creepy episode that I actually enjoyed quite a bit. It was pretty different from the normal Avatar episodes, but I think that’s why it stood out to me. Plus, we saw what happened to the Southern Water Tribe, and that was really neat to see. However, I really did not like the ending scene where it left us with Katara crying.

I agree with your TLOK pick. “When Extremes Meet” was definitely the best episode in Book 1.

Unfortunately, I do have to take issue with you saying Toph had a crush on Sokka.

She thought he saved her life, who could blame her for kissing him on the cheek? To be fair, it has been a while since I watched ATLA last, but I don’t think Toph felt that way.

I know she opened up to Sokka at times (like in the episode “The Runaway”), and it’s clear she had a connection with him, but it is also clear that she had a connection with all of Team Avatar.

I can sort of see your point. In “Sokka’s Master” when he finally
came back from training, I remember she blushed after saying something like
“They missed you or something. I didn’t care.”

However, all of this is circumstantial at best. Unless you have some other piece if information?

          • Ace

Nope, you pretty much hit the nail on the head. However, to me that is pretty much proof that she liked Sokka somewhat. Maybe it was only a sort of respect or admiration, but I think she had a small crush on him. Just my opinion.

          • Nathan

It is entirely in the realm of possibility.

Do you have any idea who Lin’s father is..? I don’t.

          • Ace

I’m not saying they got married. Having a crush on someone doesn’t instantly equal marriage, especially a crush at such a young age.

To answer your question, I have no idea.

          • Nathan

Oh, no, my question had nothing to do with Toph and Sokka. I was just curious if Lin’s father had been revealed somewhere.

          • Ace

Nope, other than that it will be revealed in Book 2. I can’t wait to find out.

          • OPT

It’s probably not Sokka since he had a relationship with Suki. In Korra’s flashback, Sokka acknowledged Toph as, “our esteemed Chief of Police.” He refers to her in a very respectful way, and not at all romantic. I think they just stayed on the friend-level and nothing more.

          • Joe

The avatar roku one with sozin was my favourite :))

          • Aangfan61

Airbending can also win. You can control water by controlling the air and wind around it. With enough wind force, you can stop rocks in mid-air or use airbending around a earth shield. And airbending can defeat fire and it is a great self-defense, you can jump high because even if you have weight, you are still lighter than air, and you can fly with a glider. So actually, air is the best.

          • Ace

The only thing is that air is based on defense, and although it is very useful, the main idea of airbending is dodging and evading until tiring out your opponent. However, with ice, gliders can be shred and the airbender can be forced to be stuck in one place. Air would be extremely strong if used offensively, but because of the pacifist nature of the monks, it isn’t. Airbending is useful against all the elements, but basically if you get one hit on an airbender, and they don’t block it, they are done. Firebending uses offense to break down any defense. After all, offense is the best defense. Earthbending uses a combination of offense and defense, and waterbending uses the opponent’s offense against them. However, once airbenders are forced to stop moving, whether it be by hitting their gliders or freezing or grounding them in place, they are pretty much useless.

          • Hi

You make some good points Ace but you forgot one thing, airbenders can move extremely fast and swiftly, it wouldn’t be that easy to just freeze a airbender so in my opinion the airbender would win the fight. If I could bend any element it would be air then I wouldn’t really care weather I could bend earth water or fire. I would be so happy if I could bend any element

          • Ace

There is water vapor in the air. Waterbenders can condense it and freeze you anywhere so that at least your feet would become encased in ice. That, or when you fleet footed airbenders eventually have to land. Yeah, I’d be happy to bend any element, but my favorite is waterbending (with airbending right after).

          • Hi

I understand that but it’s not like you can pull 50 gallons off water out of the air in one spot ( I’m not trying to say that waterbending sucks or anything I just like expressing my opinion I really like air the best but I just can’t decide between fire earth and water, what’s your list of elements, favorite to least favorite)

          • Ace

I just think that airbending will always lose to waterbending because air is so defensive. Even if I can’t keep you from moving, I can block all of your air attacks with a wall of ice. I’ve already said this twice on this thread, but it’s water, then aid, then fire, then earth.

          • Hi

You said aid instead of air just to let you know. But airbenders can run extremely fast, remember when Aang ran super fast in the episode where Sokka and Katara were sick, they can also jump really high, I guess it just depends on how good the bender is. My point is if you made a wall of ice and I was an airbender, unless it was like miles long I could just imeadiently run around the wall and start blasted air at you.

          • Ace

Aang never used the speed boost in battle. It probably takes up a lot if energy to do that and maintain it consistently. However, waterbenders are more flexible. We can use the same water we use to hit you with to make a temporary wall of ice to block an attack, then liquify it and repeat. Other benders expend more energy because you have to produce air or fire, but waterbenders (and earthbenders) can save their energy.
You can jump over be, but with enough water I could create an arch, or I could blast you back with a jet of water. Water is the best element and can adapt to most any situation. That’s my opinion, but it’s also facts.

          • Hi

Airbenders don’t create air do they

          • Ace

Never mind, you’re right. They just have to densify it and move it. I’ve run out of new arguments so I’ll just say bloodbending and leave it at that.

          • Hi

Blood bending is illegal and unless your related to Yacone you can only do it on full moons but other than that I ran out as well.

          • Ace

All’s fair in in love and war? Let’s just call it a draw.

          • Hi

            Yep

          • Mingopt

            “Water is everywhere: the air…”

You, my friend, have never been to Colorado (Or any desert, for that matter). Dry as Hell(literally).

          • Ace

You are incorrect in this matter. Water exists in one form or another everywhere, even in the driest desert. Where there are humans, there is water. Even without, there is condensation under the sand. Think of Book 2, Episode 11: The Desert. Katara found water under the sand because under the sand water forms. The sand keeps out the heat. There is always water vapor in the area, even if it is only a tiny amount. So water is everywhere.

          • Nathan

I agree with you that water is everywhere, but Katara never found water under the sand. She did, however, bend spilled water out of the sand at one point.

          • Ace

That’s right, I remember now. Still, there is moisture under the sand. She just didn’t know how to gather it yet because she hadn’t met Hama. There’s also water vapor, which exists everywhere.

          • Mingopt

lol, I wasn’t really serious. It’s just sooo dry in here. And when did Katara find water under the sand in the Si Wong Desert? I can’t remember that scene.

          • Ace

As Nathan said, she just recollected spilled water. She didn’t realize that deep under the sand there is water. That’s the only way nomadic tribes survived, in the real world. It was deep; deep enough that wells are needed to find it unless you’re lucky enough to find an oasis in which case the underground water has pooled up to the surface. However, she was unaware of that until she met Hama and realized water was everywhere. Then she realized Hama was old, crazy, and evil. Oh well.

          • Tahno

wrong. water beats fire but technicaly fire has lightning to shock you so fire benders beat everybody

          • Ace

Again, I wasn’t bringing subsets into this. Even without subsets, a waterbender could make a wall of ice or make some fog so that your attack would either be blocked or you wouldn’t know where to hit. However, if I did being in subsets, good luck bending while I’m blood bending you.

    • Kyle Edgecomb

      I have a TARDIS, i even saw book 3 and 4 already

      • Aeri

I asked where I could get a time machine, not listen to someone brag about theirs. D:

    • Tahno

      Leave a message…I can’t think of a reason why.lol

  • The Gotham Ninja

I hate when they do that. None the less, so excited for September 13th! :D

  • Puck

What do you guys think about Kya being the second child of Aang and Katara. Apparently it was on the Nickelodeon Site yesterday. Was it a mistake?? I always thought Kya was the first child, Bumi second and Tenzin third..
    Weird.

    • Aeri

I’m not sure. I guess we’ll find out.

    • Kyle Edgecomb

No bumi was always the first child….

    • Derrick

I’m pretty sure that Kya was always the oldest. It’s probably just a mistake on their part.

  • Kaydence

Got me all happy for NADA! :( Still excited for Sept 13th tho!

  • Aangfan61

This was really confusing yesterday when I told you Keval for a second until I realized it was a mistake. Everyone makes mistakes so I hope the people in charge of Nick.com doesn’t fire or punish the guy who made this mistake.

  • Aangfan61

Every time they air Swindle, they air the LOK book 2 commercial.

    • Hi
