This Friday, Nickelodeon will be hosting an hour long special that premieres episodes 11 & 12 which are titled ‘Night of a Thousand Stars’ and “Harmonic Convergence’, respectively. Today we will be taking a look at possible predictions for episode 11 ‘Night of a Thousand Stars’. Thanks to the descriptions provided by Zap2it we know that this episode will mostly be about the Republic City subplot. Because the subplot isn’t strong enough to hold on its own, I’m sure the writers will tie it into the main plot at some point in time.
The first thing I will address is Bolin’s situation in this episode; Bolin supposedly saves president Raiko when he is mysteriously attacked. Is it just me or does something sound fishy? I don’t doubt that Bolin will save president Raiko, but I think the attack on him might have been organized by Varrick. Bolin will most likely be oblivious to this fact and think he just saved the president’s life. For Varrick, Bolin saving the President would help his cause greatly. Being saved by, “Nuktuk,” the hero of the south, would prompt President Raiko to send troops to help fuel the fire that Varrick wants to keep burning.
So how does all of this tie into the plot? In “Civil Wars – Part 1,” Unalaq says, “If the Water Tribes are at war, the other nations would take sides, and the dark spirits would thrive off of this negative energy; it would be catastrophic.” From this, you can surmise that once the United Forces get involved and start an all-out war with the Northern Water Tribe, it will only give Vaatu more power.
Now onto Asami and Mako’s story line for this episode.
Asami will be trying to free Mako from prison by finding out who framed him. She will probably run into many obstacles during her quest, but in the end Asami will figure everything out and release Mako from prison. Asami could even get some help from Lin Beifong and the police force.
We’ve all wondered why Lin has been such a pain this season: always getting in the way of Mako’s investigation, and creating countless obstacles for him. But have you ever stopped to think that maybe Mako is the one getting in the way? It’s possible that Lin and her detectives knew about Varrick all along, but they didn’t have enough evidence to make an arrest.
Remember how president Raiko was suspicious of Varricks plans in episode 5, “Peacekeepers?” Maybe he knew about Varrick as well?
With the help of Asami, Lin may finally get the evidence she needs. Even though Asami would be outing Varrick as an evil mastermind in the process of freeing Mako, this probably won’t be the last we see of him.
Aside from the Republic City subplot, we will probably see some development in the Southern Water Tribe plot involving Tonraq. He has been absent from many episodes, so what better time to bring him back than now? Tonraq may even be the person who makes Desna and Eska finally realize their father’s true colors.
Even though it did not occur last episode, I’m sure it will happen in either one of the episodes shown this week. If not, I will be really surprised.
As for the events that transpired in last week’s episode between Tenzin and Korra, they’ll probably just be shown making their way to the northern Air Temple/ Water Tribe in order to close the portals and save Jinora. There could also be some major tension between Korra and Tenzin, being that he entrusted Korra with Jinora’s safety.
What are your thoughts on ‘Night of a Thousand Stars’? My prediction for ‘Harmonic Convergence’ will be published tomorrow before the LIVE Stream – that’s when things will get interesting.Pre-order a DVD copy of Book 2: Spirits:
