Legend of Korra Book 2: Episode 9 ‘The Guide’ LIVE Stream

Tonight at 8:00 pm EST, The Legend of Korra returns to Nickelodeon with an all new episode. Episode 9, titled ‘The Guide’, is expected to be much more Spirit World orientated. The episode will explore the relationship between Korra and Tenzin as the two work together to help Korra make her first ever journey into the Spirit World. As explained several weeks ago, Jinora is also expected to travel into the Spirit World during next week’s episode, so perhaps we’ll see Jinora preparing for the journey as well?

As always, I have a LIVE Stream prepared for all non-USA fans so they too can keep up with all the action. I’ll try to post a stream of the episode once it’s complete and I’ll have my thoughts about the episode early tomorrow. Hopefully ‘The Guide’ is somewhat on par with ‘Beginnings – Part 1 & 2’ – the two part episode really raised to bar for the remaining episodes.

Enjoy ‘The Guide’ and feel free to discuss the episode in the comments below. Please keep it friendly, and stay on topic.

I am extremely psyched for this! :D I’ve been waiting so long to finally get into the Spirit World episodes, and here we are! I really feel like this part of Book 2 is going to be extremely epic and will not disappoint. From what we’ve seen of the Spirit World so far in the trailers, it looks really beautiful and I can’t wait to see Korra and her friends’ adventures in it. I’m so excited! 12 more minutes! :D

  • personman

Is this streaming from Nick? Because Samurai Jack’s on Cartoon Network. Change the channel.

  • bloing

    YES YES YES IT’s STARTING

  • MG

    “Varrick’s been looking for you.”

Then this message popped out. Not really what I wanted from waking up early on a Saturday morning to catch TLOK. :(

  • http://avatarthelegendofkorraonline.com/ Keval

Great episode so far. I love how they’re focusing on all three subplots at once. Lots of fun to see Tenzin and his family again, Unalaq is pretty terrible and I like seeing Mako take responsibility for setting things straight. Bolin is useless once again. Please get rid of Nuktuk.

I also liked the reference to Guru Patik. Little connections like that always make me smile. The animation is garbage, though. Pierrot can’t animate faces, they look terrible. Next week will be nice since Mir will return for good.

    • crystalline

      Ugh i cant watch till 8 -_-

  • Hrousr

The animation still looks so weird. I thought mir was animating it from now on?

    • http://avatarthelegendofkorraonline.com/ Keval

Mir’s animation starts back up again next week and they finish the season.

      • Hrousr

        Ok thanks.

    • Aeri

it looked fine to me, then again I wasn’t paying a lot of attention but Mir is gonna be back next week, whoo.

  • queso

The episode just finished. Please don’t spoil the episode for people who haven’t seen it yet! We can discuss it in the next post.

    • http://avatarthelegendofkorraonline.com/ Keval

There are going to be spoilers. I suggest not reading the comments until you’ve seen the episode.

      • queso

I’ve already watched the episode, I was just worried about those who hadn’t, but apparently they seem to enjoy spoilers, so it’s all good. :p (Miley Cyrus Face)

        • Kailee

Yea If I miss an episode of lok I can’t stand not knowing what happened. I like spoilers.

Ooh And like five people in my class dressed up as Miley Cyrus for Halloween. Haha :p

          • Trent

Yea there were a lot of people who dressed as Miley. :p

  • Kailee

SUCH A GREAT EPISODE!!! Finally We get to see some more of Tenzin and the family!! And isn’t that flying rabbit spirit the spirit that Jinora is riding when she enters Wan Shi Tong’s library?

    OOH AND FUCK MAKO!!!!!

    • Ace

I hope you hate Mako for the kiss and not because you believed the cops.

      • Kailee

Of course I hate Mako for the kiss. It’s like he doesn’t even care about Korra!!

      • crystalline

        They kissed again?

        • Aeri

          Yeah.

          • crystalline

WTF1?!?!?! HOLY CRAP AND THEY WERE BOTH INTO OR JUST ASAMI?

          • Kailee

            Both

          • crystalline

            wow………..you gotta be kiddin me.

          • Kailee

I know right. And when Asami came over to Mako’s apartment he was wearing a white tank top that showed off all his muscles.

          • crystalline

            !!!!!!!!

          • Kailee

            Yeeeaa….

      • Hi

Yeah that kiss pissed me off, and don’t you think the police needed a search warrant of some kind?

      • Katherine M.

Asami is more to blame than Mako in this. I can’t say it isn’t clever for her to try sinking her claws in him while the most powerful human in the world is out of town on spirit business. Seriously, it’s getting rather fishy. She starts touching him in the beginning of the episode, ego inflated Bolin is like “are you kidding me, it’s only been a week!”, and Mako snaps “we’re not dating.” and then Asami stops by Mako’s apartment, says they should go back to the place where they had their first date, Mako says “no thanks, I’m busy” and she kisses him. The difference now is that he doesn’t deny it. One does not simply guess what teenage hormones will do next. Seriously…where are they going with this???

        • crystalline

WOWWWWWW. That is pretty frisky. I cant believe Mako kissed her back. I will be so mad if MASAMI happens again! I hate them together!

          • Raven Blackmon

I agree. No Masami! Makorra 4eva

          • Katherine M.

I missed something I didn’t see the first time I watched the episode. I didn’t take into account that even though Mako, Asami, Bolin, and Varrick weren’t shown in Beginnings, they’re lives still continued. It’s almost as if Asami and Mako did get back together in between episode 6 and episode 9 and told no one so they wouldn’t get judged but DAMN IT its pretty screwed. Literally a week after they broke up, and Mako is already hooking up with Asami. Mako has demoted himself to total asshole. His confused feelings seemed genuine in Book 1 but now I would like Korra to kick his ass.

          • Karlyn

Totally. When I was watching this episode I was like…. wow their relationship escalated quickly. I hate the love triangle. Fuck off Mako and Asami.

    • Raven Blackmon

I don’t like Masami! Go Makorra! I hope Mako realizes Korra is missing so he can go crazy for he again.

      • Kailee

Yup I agree. Asami is just trying to catch that rebound.

      • crystalline

OMG ME TOO! I HATE MASAMI! I completely agree with you.

        • Raven Blackmon

Thanks remember in book one when Korra went missing

          • crystalline

Yea. It was so cute the way Mako reacted to it and Ive been hoping he does the same now but obviously hes like forgotten about her and nothing has been happening. Ugh so annoying. So like Mako and Asami didn’t see Korra at all in this episode?

          • Raven Blackmon

Noe but I now he will help her in the Harmonic Convergence. Maybe they’ll get back together since Asami may think Mako is a crook since he got arrested!

          • crystalline

oh snaps. he got arrested too. wow I really need to watch this episode.

          • Raven Blackmon

            Yep.

          • Raven Blackmon

Oh and to add Asami was all on Mako chest like you know touching his chest. I was so mad at her because you now Mako lives Korra and she all on him

          • crystalline

Wow Asami is crazy. That’s too bad Mako is just ugh sometimes. He doesn’t know who he wants. Like in The Sting he was looking at him and Korras pic like he missed her and then this!

          • Raven Blackmon

I know this show has my emotions torn up right now!

          • Kailee

I’m pretty sure that Korra and Mako will see each other in “A Night of a Thousand Stars”

          • crystalline

oh yea lets hope. Is that next weeks episode?

          • Kailee

            Makorra!

          • Kailee

No. Next weeks episode it “A new spiritual age” then it’s “A night of a thousand stars”

      • Kailee

Wait…. I assume that Mako and Asami know that Korras gone because Bolin clearly said “Korra just left a week ago” but at the same time I feel like Mako was ignoring him. Ugh! Can’t Mako just realize that Korras gone already!?!?

        • Raven Blackmon

He kinda been mad at Bolin a little hasn’t he? He is ignoring but when the time comes Mako will realize how wrong he was for dumping Korra

          • Kailee

            Yea Makorra all the way!

          • Raven Blackmon

Yep my brain is mad at Masami period!

        • Anonymous

Mako and asami have kissed twice in a WEEK since korra (mako’s ex girlfriend, who he claimed he LOVED her not to long ago) went missing

          • Trent

He’s a teenager. When a teenager says those kinds of things you can’t really take them seriously because there still young and they don’t really know what “LOVE” is.

          • chewgum

yeah, but i think that korra know what mean “LOVE”, mako not yet…

    • Mfeliz

LOL. Man and I was just defending him and korra earlier today. I could take his shenanigans from the first book, but I for sure can’t stand him now. I don’t see how that relationship could move forward. I was really hoping there wouldn’t be another love triangle in this book :/

Other than the episode was great!

    • Raven Blackmon

      Totally!

  • Anonymous

Ugh I hated asami before idk y but now I really HATE her I mean as soon as mako and korra break up she is all over mako and I am really disappointed with him they didn’t even wonder about where korra is

    • crystalline

NO DAMN! Ugh I need them to notice already. That’s going to be annoying when I finally get to watch the episode.

      • Anonymous

It’s going to be awkward when korra comes back and forgives mako but asami already has her claws in mako

    • Kailee

I KNOW RIGHT!! FUCK MAKO AND ASAMI! Bolin mentioned Korra being gone and Mako and Asami didn’t even care!! They just are so……… ugggh!!!! Annoying!!!

      • crystalline

        Wow really?

        • Kailee

Yea!! Asami is like you seem stressed. And then Makos like “yea I guess need to get my mind off of things” and then they kiss!!!

          • crystalline

DAMN! I actually really feel bad for Korra now. This is crazy. Like dang.

          • Kailee

            Totally. Fuck Masami

          • mizu

wtf was that right? i was sooooooooooo mad how do u say i love you to some one date for over 6 months break up over a difference of opinion then practically bang your ex a week later what is he liam hemsworth

          • Katherine M.

Haha, maybe. About time they give Asami a flaw, man-stealer. I know Mako did end up kissing her back this time but she was nudging at him the entire time. What is she using her sexual appeal to get him back with her? Chick won’t take no for an answer, and the hot (pun) golden boy can’t make up his damn mind. He goes from Asami, to Korra, and back to Asami again.

  • lucidpersian

i missed the episode! where can I watch it online?

    • Aeri

I’m not sure if you can watch it after it’s over on a livestream (haven’t found one like that yet, since most don’t use livestream.com) but tomorrow morning it’ll be up on watchcartoononline.com probably, that’s where I watch it the next day.

    • george

You can watch it on Nick.com a little after midnight.

  • Hrousr

Ughhhhhhh Mako is such a garbage character. He was good then awful and then I liked him through this season and now hes back to being useless, an idiot and now hes tramping around with Asami. What is up with that guy??

    • Aeri

hormonal attractive muscular teenage boy sees a beautiful now wrecked and weak emotional girl = ‘love’

  • crystalline

Someone please tell me what happened this episode in detail I don’t care for spoilers.

    • Raven Blackmon

      Do you ship Makorra

      • mizu

        yes

        • KorraKorra

          yes

    • Aeri

(lol if you don’t care for spoilers not gonna go for awesome grammar, hope you don’t mind)

korra gets to the temple and explains everything to tenzin since they’ve been mole people and then tenzin says oh i knew this shit would happen we need to get you into the spirit world since the harmonic convergence is really soon

cut to bolin at the set of nuktuk and asami comes in then mako and mako tries to explain that varrick is behind everything, neither person believes him and then varricks goons kidnap mako as he walks off, hes too far away for them to see, and varrick blackmails mako in a dimly lit room that he could hurt asami and bolin if he wanted to

cut to unalaq who has entered the spirit world with desna and eska and they try to open the northern portal (same spot as fight in b2) and fail, desna gets hit by dark energy and eska says he needs a healer, unalaq says no keep hitting the portal with water so eska takes him back to the normal world and unalaq cant open the portal so he rages

      cut to mako and asami
(sorry i froze at this scene didn’t get all of it)
so they kiss and then the cops bust in (two mustache dudes and lin) and theyre like so some triads said you hired them and mako said ‘yes i did sorry i went behidn your back’ and theyre like but wait theres more they said you did a sting operation to distract sato while you stole the supplies and then asamis like WUT and then mako’s like, that’s a lie then they look around his apartment and find some of varricks stuff and hes arrested and asamis just like shit is not looking good for you bro

      cut back to air temple
so the whole gang (the children, tenzin/siblings, pema, korra) try ancient techniques to try to get tenzin and korra into the spirit world and fail then tenzin gets all butthurt and hes like YOURE ALL DOING SOMETHING WRONG ITS NOT ME and then jinora reveals she can see spirits (tenzin’s like we should stay herre and not follow them since the spiritual energies are closest to the temple, no one listens) and they (spirits) lead her to a spot where they try to meditate and then giant dark spirit bats pop up and terrorize them then korra calms them (it’s shown in a commercial, giant circle of fly things being calmed) and then tenzin says oh the ancient airbenders must ahve built this spot to travel between worlds, then admits maybe he doesnt have the spiritual connection like aang had and wanted him to have but hes happy jinora has it and then korra and jinora go into the spirit world

cut to unalaq, alone in spirit world

      hes in front of vaatu
      >sorry i failed you
      >you havent failed me…yet
      >but the avatar is dead dude
      >nah i can feel raava even though im seperated
      >dw ill find korra and get her to open the portal
      >she’ll find you first dude, she just entered the spirit world. fail me and bad stuff is gonna happen k

no one mentions korra in this episode that isn’t at the air temple/unalaq, it’s confirmed unalaq is working for vaatu, it’s confirmed that airbenders can enter the spirit world, not confirmed whether or not other benders can

i think i got all of it since it’s a lot i really didn’t butter it up sorry

      • crystalline

        Thanks so much that’s perfect!

        • Aeri

          you’re welcome it was nice to not use perfect grammar for once, my shift key is broken ;v;

          • crystalline

Lol the grammar was fine to me :P

          • Aeri

oh also i forgot to mention, while at the set they were alone since people were out at lunch, bolin suspects they’re dating and they both deny

korra’s been gone for a week as of this episode

can’t wait for episode 10 so we can have two 1 hour specialsssss

          • crystalline

Omg yea forgot about the 2 hour thing xD. Wait so are there 14 episodes total?

          • Aeri
      • mizu

luv the dialogue between vaatu and unalaq

        • Aeri

I used the >’s because I was really too darn lazy to use ”..”

      • Chelsea Hicks-Watts

I just laughed so hard at this synopsis of the show!!!! Accurate, though.

        • Aeri

Yeah it was fun to write.

  • george

    “…I knew this would happen!”

    • crystalline

      ELABORATE

      • george

        Well…

Unalaq got Korra to open the spirit portal, and then it turned out he was just power hungry and took over the Southern Watertribe, and Korra tried to get people to help the Southern Water Tribe, and then Eska and Desna went after her, and then a dark spirit ate her, and then she met the first Avatar, and then she realized that it was actually really bad that she opened the spirit portal, and now she has to stop Unalaq before the harmonic convergence.

        • george

Wait, you haven’t seen this episode?

          • crystalline

Yea I just haven’t seen the guide yet because im in California.

          • Kailee

Wait… I live in California but I watched it at 5:00

          • crystalline

Yea my wifi wasn’t working till exactly 5:30 no joke! I was mad as heck. So yea now I get to wait….

      • Aeri

I am upvoting that simply because of your sass in your comment.

        • crystalline

lol didn’t mean for that to be in caps but okay.

    • Aeri

Tenzin is iroh 2.0. It’s creepy to me sometimes.

      • george

        Really? How so?

  • InternalMeaning

Does Jinora’s voice sound very different to anyone else? I can’t tell if the voice actor matured a bit or they replaced her.

Really disappointed in the Mako/Asami business, as well as the fact that Unalaq seems to be “that evil guy” at this point. Beginnings was great, but that greatness didn’t seem to carry over to this episode. :(

    • http://avatarthelegendofkorraonline.com/ Keval

The Mako/Asami subplot honestly sucked. But I thought the episode was great. I’m not disappointed at all that Unalaq is the evil guy. We’re half way through the season. They had to have revealed the villain by now.

      • InternalMeaning

I agree with that, but they already revealed Vaatu as “the” bad guy. I was hoping he would be manipulating Unalaq as he did Wan but Unalaq seems to be on his side. Just not what I hoped for, still an above par episode!

      • Kailee

Yea Bolin or “Nuktuk” is useless. He was in like one scene and his main line was something like “Huh! Wait a minute. Are you two dating again? Korra just left a week ago!”

    • Aeri

I noticed every one of Tenzin’s kids voices changing..Probably the year old wait between seasons.

  • Aeri

Since the stream froze for me for a few minutes, can anyone tell me what happened at the very beginning of the episode? It started playing right as Korra started telling Tenzin everything that happened. Thanks.

    –SPOILERS.–

The overall episode was amazing, they’ve clearly captured everyone’s true colors. Eska showing concern and compassion for her brother, and carrying him back to the physical world was pretty heartwarming considering she had shown almost no concern for Bolin’s safety or health when he [WAS, thank god.] going to marry her.

Tenzin’s scenes where also done beautifully; his character seems almost flawless when shown at certain angles but they show that no one is truly perfect by his admitting to failure, followed by stubborn pride. Finally his acceptance of spiritual denial shown as he hugs his daughter.

I’m glad that they have confirmed plot twists we were expecting, as Unalaq’s service to Vaatu and Jinora having the ability to enter the Spirit World/see spirits when supposedly invisible in the mortal world. I can’t wait to see what they’ll do in episode 10 with the new Spirit World design and if we’ll see a spar between Unalaq and Korra while at the Harmonic Convergence battlefield.

Sorry if my writing is sloppy; I really didn’t proofread this much and I hope you all don’t mind.

  • http://avatarthelegendofkorraonline.com/ Keval

Mako and Bolin need to get the axe in my opinion. Team Avatar should be Korra, Kya, Bumi, Tenzin, Jinora and maybe Meelo. Much more likable characters.

    • Kailee

      I agree.

    • crystalline

I disagree. I like Bolin and Mako and Asami. Honestly Tenzin and his siblings annoy me so much but the kids are cute.

    • redpandapuppy

I disagree, the reason being that Mako and Bolin are the same age as Korra so they get to understand her better.

    • daniel yefru

Yeah i think team avatar returns in darkness falls because since korra is in the spirit world how well they find her

    • Mfeliz

I’ve been disappointed with Mako/Bolin/Asami as team avatar, but maybe Bolin will start to get a better story with episode 11? Or maybe
      its just wishful thinking.

      (Episode description: http://avatar.wikia.com/wiki/Night_of_a_Thousand_Stars#cite_note-Zap2it-2)

    • Nico

Mako and Bolin are classic. Can’t cut them. Couple episodes and people are already writing them off? No go.

      • Mfeliz

Maybe I am reacting too fast and should continue to give them a chance. What makes Mako and Bolin classic (don’t get me wrong, I am not challenging you. Just interested in this idea )?

        • Nico

Meelo is a joke still can’t have him running around on the squad just yet. I would hear an argument for Jinora because she’s a baller. Kya and Bumi haven’t lived up to what I expected so far, I haven’t seen any crazy fight scenes or sweet bending from Kya. But Mako helped save Republic City and is one of the only people who actually got the drop on Amon, that was epic. And w/o Bolin, who’s going to be the comic relief? answer: nobody. Bolin will get off this crazy movie star ride soon enough and then people will be back to saying he’s cool.

  • george

Man, when Meelo is dissapointed that his dad doesn’t like his bell-hitting, he looks so anime!

  • Tyrone Barnes

    Aw, I missed it!!

  • Raven Blackmon

Totally good episode except for the Masami Kiss am I right!

    • Kailee

      Totally

    • http://avatarthelegendofkorraonline.com/ Keval

Good episode except for the ENTIRE Mako/Bolin/Asami subplot

      • Raven Blackmon

        Couldn’t agree more

      • KorraKorra

The subplot was not bad it just was not as interesting.

      • KorraKorra

The subplot was not bad it just was not as interesting.

      • Sergio

It was not that bad. I really hope Varrick’s plans will turn much more evil and darker than just using a war to make some extra money.

    • Kakashi

      I AGREE!!

    • Kakashi

      I AGREE!!

  • Kailee

It’s so sad that Unalaq doesn’t even care that Desna got hurt.

    • crystalline

      Awww

    • http://avatarthelegendofkorraonline.com/ Keval

Shows his ruthlessness. I thought it was a good add-in.

      • Kailee

True. I liked how Eska decided to help Desna instead of Unalaq.

        • Raven Blackmon

I like Desna more than Unalaq and Eska

      • Aeri

        Agreed.

      • daniel yefru

Very true otherwise unalaq would have been mandrake fromn epic

      • george

        Yeah, the guy is obsessed.

    • Karlyn

I don’t get it, why did two people vote Kailee’s comment down? Don’t you think it’s sad that Unalaq doesn’t care that HIS SON got hurt?!?!

  • http://avatarthelegendofkorraonline.com/ Keval

Anyone feel sorry for Tenzin? The guy spent his whole life studying and learning about the Spirit World, and he can’t even enter it.

    • Aeri

I was sad also. Very sad. Tenzin tried so hard and he already has enough on his plate, why did the world have to do that to him. :c

    • Kailee

Yea…. I guess that hes just not the right person.

    • MG

I pity him too. He’s destined to preserve the Air Nomad race and cultures, yet he’s unable to embrace the full spirituality embraced by master Air Nomad spiritualists, something which has troubled him through his life.

But it’s pretty fortunate that his eldest daughter has the innate connections, allowing the Air Nomads’s spiritual teachings and connections to be passed down for further generations.

On a further note: I hope to see Jinora earn her tattoos by the end of the series, if not Book 2.

      • blackbeard

Don’t airbenders have to become masters, and turn 16 or something in order to get tattoos ?(Aang being the exception: due to him being the Avatar and the invention of the Air Scooter)

Then again, Jinora has pretty much mastered airbending: all that’s left is for her to invent a new airbending technique (Maybe it’s the airbending subset!)

        • Kailee

True. And hopefully they can make an exception for letting Jinora get her tattoos before 16. I mean she’s like a 10 year girl who can enter the spirit world. If that’s not impressive enough then I don’t know what is. Jinora rocks! :D

          • MG

The 16-years-old part does not refer to airbending tattoos, but when one’s Avatar identity is revealed. The sole exceptions are Aang, whose identity was revealed due to the possible break-out of war; and Korra, who already had some innate bending abilities of earth and fire (I’m not adding water due to that being her native element) at the tender age of 4.

        • MG

Yes, the tattoos are a symbol of airbending mastery, but there is no age restrictions to when one can earn it. Furthermore, the tattoos are sacred and can only be earned by Air Nomads, not Avatars of other nationalities even if they are masters.

Airbending mastery means mastering all the forms, or if you invent some new skill(s) to make up for your shortfall, like Aang who invented the air scooter.

    • KorraKorra

I do! I must be hard to train to be something he is not.

      • Makorraaa<3

I’m Makorra shipper….. but are Mako and Asami together?? Cuz it sure seemed like it in this episode… but they never made it clear.

        • LOKlover

Umm I’m not sure. But I agree, it did seem like they were secretly a couple this episode. I just watched this review for “the guide” and the guy was like Asami wants Mako in her taco. Haha

          • Kailee

Hahaha….. Mako in her taco? That’s funny.

        • chewgum

Nooooooo, i want to see makorra…..
.but i’m pretty sure mako and korra will be togheter again, i hope..

          • Kailee

Yea. Asami was just a little irritating this episode. I mean she was literally throwing herself at Mako.
            MAKORRA:D

  • Kailee

It also irritated me when Varrick said “I heard you and her were kind of an item again.” and Mako didn’t deny it.

    • Kailee

      Her as in Asami

      • LOKlover

Yes that also irritated me too. Mako just need to keep his lips to himself.

    • crystalline

Ugh stupid Mako he has serious problems. He needs to get his act together.

      • Kailee

Yea I’m tired of him switching between Asami and Korra.

    • Katherine M.

I hope Korra sets his ass straight when she finds out what’s been going on between him and Asami. That’s assuming she will find out at all. I personally think she does because they’re dragging this triangle out a little longer than I expected.

      • Kailee

Yea I hope she finds out too. Mako is just so infuriating!

    • Lana

Until this episode i´ve been a Makorra shipper – NOT anymore! I don´t want Korra to take Mako back after this, he really doesn´t deserve her! For the first time I agree with Keval and everyone else who thinks the lovestory in the series sucks and is just distracting – from the rest of the story which is AMAZING!

  • Kataangshipper

YOU GUYS. HELP. I MISSED THE EPISODE BECAUSE OF MY VOLLEYBALL GAME. IF YOU CANNOT TELL BY MY PICTURE, MY OTP IS NOT DOING SO GOOD. SO IF ANYONE HAS A LINK, CAN YOU COMMENT ON THIS ASAP. THANK YOU<3

  • MG

Yup, that’s the very same place, but for some unbeknownst reasons, the mountain has disappeared.

PS: Pardon the big fat play button.

    • MG

One more: Yangchen statue. Tenzin’s third attempt, and Aang’s fifth charkra.

  • KorraKorra

I enjoyed this episode. Especially the Tenzin interaction with Korra and his siblings.
The only thing i did not like was that mako and asmai look as if they are dating again. please no, not that again.

    • crystalline

Yea ikr. I feel like they are having some secret relationship the way he hugged her I was aw hell no.

      • KorraKorra

they did not jut hugged…. but kissed,

        • crystalline

I know that was icing on the cake.

Yea ikr. I feel like they are having some secret relationship the way he hugged her I was aw hell no.

Who’s ready for an Azula theory?! If you have read the search, you may know that Azula has now become this crazy schizophrenic lunatic. She’s always thinking someones plotting against her, and frequently has hallucinations of her mother. The question is why! Why is Azula going nuts; you could say its because of her childhood, or the fact that she may just actually be crazy. But, Personally I think it’s because she is special. Not special in a mental way, but special as in a spiritual guide. In “The Search”, Azula’s, mother Ursa, keeps communicating with her; telling Azula that her destiny is not to be Firelord and that it lies elsewhere. These hallucinations may actually be Ursa’s spirit trying to connect with Azula. By the end of the search we find out that Ursa had her memory wiped and assumed a new identity. I think that all the memories of Ursa’s old life materialized and became the spirit we see interacting with Azula. Now with this episode we know that Jinora has great spiritual powers as well, and she just so happens to be the Avatars granddaughter. Who else is related to the Avatar? Azula! Her great grandfathers were Avatar Roku, and Firelord Sozin; talk about some powerful and spiritual genes! And don’t forget about Iroh, he could also see into the spirit world. My theory is that later in Azula’s life, she realizes her power and comes to grips with her true destiny, which is to help the Avatar bring balance to the world. I also think the women who helped Korra regain her memory, in episodes 7 and 8 was Azula. The women was very spiritual and looks to be around the same age as Azula would be now. I know some of you may say, “Azula’s fire is blue, that women’s clearly isn’t!” Azula’s fire is blue, because it burns hotter than most, and the reason why it is hotter than most is because Azula has so much inner rage and pain. From ATLA we know that most of the time fire is fueled by anger and rage, so by the time Azula reaches an old age she would already have gotten rid of all her anger and rage, making her fire light and pure. The last thing I will point out is that the women and Azula even look similar. They have the same eyes, sort of the same hair, even their face shape is similar.

Did you read the Search part 3 or just a description? Follow-up question: is you did read it, was it for free online because I’ve been trying to find a way to read it without buying it off Amazon.

      • Kaylee

You can watch it on youtube

        • PurplePlatypusBear

          Okay thanks :)

    • LINK, BITCHES!!!

Well, now you can find out for sure:

That was the link to the full “THE SEARCH PART 2″

  • crystalline

If Mako and Asami end up together I don’t think Ill be able to watch the show anymore…

  • crystalline

If Mako and Asami end up together I don’t think Ill be able to watch the show anymore…

    • PurplePlatypusBear

They won’t, don’t worry. I’m pretty sure it will end up as Bosami and Makorra. Obviously Korra and Mako are meant for each other, and Bolin and Asami both need someone, so Bosami seems like a perfect solution. I’ve never like Asami much, but I’d be satisfied with Bosami.

    • Katherine M.

Korra and Mako are “the” main couple, like Katara and Aang or Mai and Zuko. There’s no doubt they will end up together.

  • KorraKorra

Well this episode taught me Eska is not as cold hearted as i thought.

    • Petecaca

This episode taught me that Korra really likes kids

    • Muggle

Or maybe she only cares about Desna.

Is it weird that I care a lot about Desna as well? Something just tells me he’s not evil. Or at least, he’s not as evil as Unalaq or as crazy as Eska.

      • Tahno

I think Desna might be done for the rest of the episodes. If he’s really hurt I would doubt we would see him again even though he’s my favorite character since Korra crybaby, asami helpless, bolin pride, and don’t show Iron enough.

  • crystalline

I really wonder if say Unalaq and Vaatu dp fuse together and become a dark avatar. What if Korra defeats Unalaq possibly killa him or something. Would the dark avatar be reincaranated? If a dark avatar does arise it could really create the potential for a new series to spiral out with a dark and good avatar. I dont know i could be very wrong but just a thought. I personally think having a good and bad avatar would be epic. Thats a lot of power which makes for a powerful battle. Cant wait for next weeks episode. Really hoping that Korra finally reunites with Bolin, Asami, and Mako again and they sort things out.

    • Aeri

I thought of something sort of like that, with Vaatu possessing Unalaq and there being a duel… it’d be awesome but I don’t think that’s the direction they’re going in. Would love a story about it, though, it might be boring because all of the good avatar’s life has to be spent babysitting someone…

  • Sally

Damn, you guys taking shipping pretty seriously. I guess I’m an asshole; some people get over others fast, and can move on. Others like to go back to exes if a relationship ends because it’s better than feeling the pain of being dumped/doing the dumping.

    • Muggle

Same here. I don’t care for the Masami business either, but still. I’m not totally surprised that Asami would still have feelings for Mako. I am disappointed that she’s moving in right after his breakup with Korra, though. It seems so OOC.

I’m one of those people who just rolls with the punches and moves on after a breakup. I think I cried over a guy once. ONCE. And I’m at least Facebook friends with a lot of my exes.
i guess I must really be heartless.

  • Professor Farnsworth

So did Lin get stupid this season? Or is her department so infiltrated by the enemy that she already knew everything Mako was trying to tell her, but she has to play dumb until she can make a move?

  • daniel yefru

EPISODE WAS AWESOME! and wtf! bending in the fuckign spirit world i know they entered there phiscyly but still

  • daniel yefru

OMG why are people so pissed at the mako and asami kiss MAKO AND KORRA BROKE UP!! deal with it

    • Katherine M.

It’s because Mako and Asami started to go at it like horny little bunnies as soon as they found out Korra left Republic City…

    • crystalline

Yea it would be different if Mako and Korra maybe talked it out decided to just stay friends or Mako had waited longer, but literally right after Korra and Mako break up Asami is all over him and Mako is into it and they’re acting like Korra never existed. She could be dead right now and they wouldn’t even care. They wont even acknowledge Korra’s absence at all especially Mako who dumper her hard. Its just sad poor Korra I wonder what’s going to happen next. Maybe Korra can find someone better and Mako can realize what a jerk he is.

    • What happened to team avatar?

Yes they broke up, but it doesn’t make that kiss less irritating.

It would’ve been less annoying if in the last episodes they didn’t make it seem like they didn’t really want to break up, that Mako missed Korra and didn’t reciprocate Asami’s feelings. I was impressed with Mako for having that restraint not kissing her back. Plus, this kiss just seemed out of place for some reason. Sure these things happen all the time and people react differently after break ups. I just don’t understand the point of taking Mako down this road and using the triangle again. They finally start making Mako a bit more likable then do this. Maybe things were never really resolved (although I was under the impression, perhaps foolishly, that Mako had chosen Korra and forgot about Asami). Hopefully they put a clear end to this love triangle and don’t introduce more. This way we can enjoy less obnoxious plots like an actual team avatar working together and their adventures.

      • PurplePlatypusBear

Entirely agreed! I hated the kiss in the guide, but wasn’t miffed about it in the sting.

  • daniel yefru

Holy crap thanks to keval’s background i just realized that jinora’s spirit friend is in the picture and kiniora is riding it

    • Sergio

Not sure at all, unless her bunny friend somehow can grow up so she can ride it. That, or maybe a fusion of all the bunnies to make a big one. What I wonder is…why does she need to go to the library? is there something we don’t know about Vaatu and that only Wan Shi Tong can tell?…OMG I will die! Book 2 is getting more interesting each episode!!!!

  • Sibis

The most funniest line of this episode. Mako denying the very idea that he would hurt Asami. Asami can remember a restaurant they ate at. Then a moment later, Mako completely denies the cheating and the hurting of Asami.

Also, Korra omits all the crazy ass **** that she did when telling Tenzin and them what happens. Why? So they could have Tenzin baby her and say, “It wasn’t your fault.”

    • Katherine M.

She did take responsibility for starting a civil war, and that’s the craziest thing she’s done all season.

      • Muggle

Yeah, pretty much. And she was manipulated by Unalaq; none of that would have happened if Unalaq hadn’t tricked her into opening the spirit portal while he planned an invasion of the Southern Water Tribe.

  • Sergio

Great episode!! Personally I don’t care a lot about love in this season. The only thing I hope to see is team Avatar (Mako, Asami, Bolin, Korra and why not Jinora, Eska and Desna) fighting together against Vaatu and Unalaq…of couse, after kicking Varrick’s rich ass. By the way, with this episode we can say GOOD BYE to Pierrot Studio!! :D

    • Kailee

Yea we haven’t seen any Team Avatar this whole season! D: It’s like they’re not even a team anymore. It’s saad :'( I just wish that they would stick to one relationship instead of Mako having mixed feelings about Korra and Asami. It would make things a whole lot simpler and then we wouldn’t have this shit of a love triangle. But I like where this season is going (not the love triangle part) Korra is finally starting to mature and she was pretty cool this episode. Oh and I thought that Pierrot’s animation this episode was actually pretty good. But I still think that Mir’s animation is 10x better! :D

  • Vanshani the riddler

I HATE FREAKIN MAKO he dont love korra and just totally forgot bout her. it would be soo cool if she found like her childhood friend from her tribe and brought him back with her and mako gets jelly >:D

    • crystalline

OMG YEAAAA! I would love that!

      • Vanshani the riddler

YEA TAKE THAT MAKO! or mayb if korra started talkin 2 bolin more >:D heheh ako u suck

        • crystalline

I think Bolin will still have feelings for Korra if Korra and Mako decide to stay away from each other for a bit. Then Mako will get jealous again hopefully. Or maybe Tahno or some other dude will sweep Korra off her feet.

          • Vanshani the riddler

YESS i will ship BOKRRA if mako doesnt get his shit together

          • Kailee

Omg!! I would actually want Korra to be with Tahno instead of Mako. Actually anybody would be better than Mako. Hahaha

    • Kailee

That would be awesome! Make Mako come crawling back to Korra! And yea, stupid Mako doesn’t even love Korra. If Mako and Asami start dating again ill literally hit myself with a hammer. Haha… Do you think that Bolin still likes Korra??

      • Vanshani the riddler

SOO TRU :P i think it wud aslo b awesome if korra likes bolin now :D i like bolin SOOO much better than mako..he actually cares for korra :D

  • Trent

    ????

    • Trent

I know that this is an old picture but why are they so sad?

      • Sergio

Maybe because Mako is in jail…

        • Trent

Yeea! I wonder why they are all dressed up tho

      • crystalline

        What picture?

        • Trent

          this one.

          • crystalline

oh I cant see it for some reason……

          • Trent

            Really? That’s weird. Sorry

          • crystalline

ohhh I see now. hmmm how interesting

      • Mfeliz

Haven’t seen it yet. Where’s it from?

        • Kailee

I don’t think that they revealed which episode its from.

    • Katherine M.

They’re also well dressed. I’m glad Asami’s hair stopped “shimmering”. The stupid white streaks Pierrot kept putting there was pissing me off. I wonder why they would be disappointed on what looks like a night that should’ve been fun. They’re also outside the Pro-bending Arena. If Asami is disappointed, Korra is probably back in the picture.

      • Kailee

Omg! I thought I was the only one who noticed and was kind of annoyed about her hair shimmering. But anyways, I hope Korra comes back into the picture because Masami is NOT working for me. And also because the subplot with Mako, Bolin, and Asami is just boring.

        • Katherine M.

Masami ain’t working for me either. I think what Bryke is trying to do is start some sort of confrontation about that mess so it gets settled once and for all.

        • Eliminator

Masami = I will enter the Avatar World and sort some things out and make the right decision for Mako :P

          • Katherine M.

lol I know I don’t make sense now but imagine Korra, Mako, and Asami in the same room and Korra is all pissed that while she was trying to save the world, Mako was getting chummy with Asami almost immediately after their breakup. Maybe this is where the three of them tell each other their love related issues and try to fix them. That’s my best guess.

          • Kailee

If I were Korra, I would kick Mako’s ass. I mean in “Peacekeepers” and “The Sting” it seemed like Mako was still in love with Korra even though they broke up. But now in ‘The Guide” Mako seems to have totally forgotten that Korra even exists! Boilin was the only one who thought that Mako and Asami hooking up was wrong. And if Bolin is your voice of reason, that means that your definitely doing something wrong.

          • Katherine M.

Yea I’m all for Korra kicking Mako’s ass.

  • Joe

Keval, I think it might interest you, new schedule for Korra.

  • PurplePlatypusBear

Okay, I have been thinking, and I think I’ve finally figured out Desna and Eska’s roles/ side. I’ve always kind of figured that Eska and Desna would be protagonists. I mean, come on! They’re Unalaq’s children. But ever since Desna’s seemingly horrified reaction in ‘The Sting’ to when Unalaq came out of the spirit portal, I’ve had a feeling that he has a shred of decency in him. In the beginning, I like Eska more that Desna (I didn’t like her, I just didn’t hate her as much as Desna for some reason). After that insignificant response, though, my opinion of him changed. Eska didn’t really seem to care about Unalaq’s visit with the spirit world, so I started thinking that Eska would follow her father and Desna would side with Team Avatar. I know, it’s a big assumption for something so small, but I really felt something in the way Desna said that. Usually they speak with no emotion, but I felt real shock in Desna’s voice! Anyway, my feelings towards Desna were reaffirmed in ‘The Guide’ when thhi

    • PurplePlatypusBear

Grr… Accidentally sent it. Sorry. I’ll continue here. (Btw I didn’t mean those last letters my hand hit the keyboard :p). Anyway, my feelings towards Desna were reaffirmed in ‘The Guide’ when he seemed very hesitant to follow his father’s orders, though I saw another side to Eska in this scene as well. When she rushed to her brother’s side, I saw someone who actually could care for someone who was down. Yes, it was her twin brother, but she stopped what her father was telling her to do and took Desna to safety. I originally thought that Desna would fight Eska because they would become on opposite sides, but now I’m not so sure. Maybe Eska was just showing concern for one of the few people she cares about, and will still turn to the wrong side. Though that’s not quite the impression I got from this episode.

      What do you think?

  • Nico

Ok guys new synopsis for each of the new episodes. Here they are.

A New Spiritual Age – Korra enters the Spirit World and struggles with the Avatar’s relationship with the spirits.

Night of a Thousand Stars – Bolin saves the day when President Raiko is attacked.

Harmonic Convergence – Korra and company try to close the spirit portals before the Harmonic Convergence.

Darkness Falls – Korra discovers a new twist in Unalaq’s evil plan; Tenzin realizes that he must face his own demons.

Light in the Dark – Korra discovers a way she might be able to defeat the ultimate dark spirit and save the world.

Frankly ‘Darkness Falls’ looks like its going to be the most epic. Its funny because I thought ‘Skeletons in the Closet’ was the best of Book 1 and that was the penultimate episode as well.

    • Kailee

OMG!! Hopefully in “A night of a thousand stars” Bolin will actually have an important role and Mako and Korra will see each other again!! :D Oh and in the description for “Harmonic Convergence” does Korra and company mean Korra and her friends?? But anyways, Im super stoked for the last five episodes but also sad cuz this season is going by so fast! :'(

      • crystalline

Yea im pretty sure Korra and company refers to possibly the children and Bolin, Asami, and Mako, and possibly Eska and Desna we will see. It sounds to me that unfortunately we probably still wont see Korra and Mako and Asami together again in next weeks episode. Might have to wait till Night of a Thousand Stars.

        • question

Many people think Korra and mako will meet again in night of a thousand stars. Why? I’ve missed something :/

          • Kailee

Someone posted this pic like a week ago saying that this is from “A night of a thousand stars”

          • Kailee

I assume that this is Mako and Korra.

          • question.

OK thank you! For some reason when I saw this I thought it was just fan art.

      • Nico

I was thinking it was going to be them. If you remember from the trailer earlier this year it shows Mako and Bolin jumping into some kind of spirit portal, so we should be seeing them with Korra at one point.

  • PurplePlatypusBear

Okay, this is just my option on the whole Mako-Asami crap. I totally think it’s Asami’s fault that they are together and that Korra has been thrown under the bus. When Mako broke up with Korra, he still had feelings for her. That much is obvious. But Asami dived in like a vulture and seduced him. Everyone is treating this as if Mako is cheating on Korra with Asami. He’s not! He broke up with Korra! Yes, he still has feelings for her, but when you break up with someone, there’s a reason for it, you don’t just do it for the heck of it. HE DIDNT THINK IT WOULD WORK OUT!!!! So of course he can go to someone else. It bugs us because we like Makorra, but he wasn’t dating anyone. Asami also had feelings for Mako, so she saw this as her opening. ‘He’s single now! Here’s my chance to get him back!’ Is how her thought process went. And Mako had never had a reason to not date Asami, he just had more reasons t date Korra! He loved her more, which is why he dumped Asami, but he never had anything against her. He was just thinking ‘It’s not working out with Korra. Maybe can give Asami another shot.’ Neither of them are doing anything morally wrong (*cheating), but the only thing that seriously irks me is how Asami flirted and seduced. It was just kind of creepy and disturbing. She was just falling all over Mako, and he did nothing to stop her. He obviously thought about the kiss (from ‘The Sting’) and figured ‘What the heck? Asami’s a nice girl. I can give her another chance. Maybe it’ll work out this time.’

Mako broke up with Korra. He has the moral right to date whoever he wants now, no matter how much we hate it and know that he will get back with Korra in the end. Deal with it.

Pics below of what I mean by Asami “seducing Mako”. Please disregard the pause button in the first one:

    • PurplePlatypusBear

Whoops. Posted the pictures in the wrong order. I don’t know if it makes a difference, but here:

    • What happened….?

Good points! Mako wasn’t with Korra so he could do what he pleased and didn’t cheat. I never saw it as cheating just annoying. However, initially it didn’t look like he broke up with her because “he didn’t think it would work out”. It seemed like he was just frustrated in that moment and he didn’t give it much thought before actually breaking up (he said “Yeah I GUESS I am”). I was annoyed that he moved on so fast (I know, its normal etc but still annoying). Like Bolin said, she’s only been gone for a week. The idea that Its not really working out, so let me try things with my ex seems weak and I thought Mako was going back to book one instead of moving forward. Sure Assami was coming on strong and Mako still has feeligs etc. Plus, I know he can do whatever he wants, but if he loved Korra so much it would have been nice to see him refrain as he did at first.

I can deal with it and will because there are more interesting/important things going on. I just can’t help that its an annoying plot for me.

Sorry if I’ve annoyed ppl with these comments. I hate to focus so much on this kiss, when there’s so much more going on

        • PurplePlatypusBear

Yes, I agree he was being way to quick to get back together with someone, it was just bugging me that everyone (not necessarily you) was like “HOW DARE HE HE LOVES KORRA!”

And thanks about the Eska/Desna thing. I feel like that part of the plot is much more exciting than this love triangle, so im really hoping to see some more of the twins in the next episodes :)

I agree with you but it would’ve been nice to see Mako resist Asami’s advances and maybe realize he was just as much at fault as Korra for their breakup. It irks me to see him get over it so quickly when he didn’t actually want to break up in the first place (even though he knew it had to be done).

Yea Mako was sinlge when Asami and him kissed but it irritated me on how Asami kept throwing herself at him and touching his chest and all that crap. Korra NEVER did that kind of stuff….yea she had her jealousy moments but it never escalated into anything like this. Mako and Asami have been okay characters throughout this season but now….. I cant stand them. I honestly don’t want to hate them but its sad because they don’t even give a shit that Korra is gone.

      • Mfeliz

Sure, but didn’t Korra initiate a kiss with Mako while he was dating Korra? Or am I mixing things up now?

        • crystalline

no, you’re right she did kiss Mako while he was with Asami but its still slightly different. Korra just didn’t know how to show her feelings for Mako, Asami is just seductive and will do whatever it takes to get Mako. Asami knows whats she doing, Korra just didn’t know how to handle the situation.

      • PurplePlatypusBear

Exactly. I am just very disappointed in Asami. I had never liked her character in Book 1 for some reason, but it wasn’t because I didn’t like the way she treated Mako. Maybe it was because I suspected her of being an Equalist like her father before she turned on him, and I just never got over it. Whatever it was, though, I was really starting to like Asami this season! Well, not anymore. And same with Mako! I really liked his character in Book 1 and Book 2 and have usually stuck up for him. Like when he told the President Korra’s plans, I was one of the few people who defended his decision. I still think that Asami is much more at fault, but I still feel bitter towards Mako for dropping Korra so easily.

        • Muggle

I thought Asami was awesome last season. When the love triangle arc was introduced I was expecting her to be bitchy, but she dealt with it maturely and after years of rolling my eyes at teen/young adult dramas that are way too full of love triangles and bitchiness for the sake of bitchiness, it was nice. Also, she’s the token non-bender with an awesome electro-glove.

But I’m really annoyed with how she’s moved in on Mako. It feels so OOC and she did it the day after he broke up with Korra! WTF.

here’s what i think.. the whole asami, mako, bolin subplot is such garbage.. if ever varrick was planning something really evil and if it involves unalaq, that’d be great but right now it seems like varrick is this guy who is really aiming to steal and become the most popular, rich man. He’s using bolin to become rich and stole asami’s megatanks to call it his own.. I really hate mako and asami right, i know that mako and korra broke up but come on!! it’s so insensitive for mako to just go along with asami like that. and asami is such a flirt.. arrggghhh

korra has grown su much now.. :)
