Legend of Korra Season 3 Release Date Set for September in Brazil

According to a legitimate Brazilian anime and television website, Nickelodeon has confirmed that The Legend of Korra season 3 will premiere during the month of September in Brazil. As stated in the article, a release date for season 3 has not been announced for the USA. Regardless, this is very promising news for anyone awaiting the third season in the USA – which I assume is anyone reading this post. At the very latest, season 3 will premiere this September in the USA if not several months earlier.

We had a similar discussion during the Book 2 offseason in which many suggested that Nickelodeon could premiere Book 2 earlier in non-USA countries. While this has been done before, the present situation is completely different. Four episodes of Book 3 have been leaked by Mundo Nick, and any episodes premiering in non-USA countries first will be leaked to the USA as well. If Nickelodeon decides to premiere Book 3 in Brazil (as an example) before the USA, the USA will have six leaked episodes of Book 3 before the season even gets started.

While this wouldn’t necessarily be a disastrous situation, it’s a situation that should be avoided at all costs. And frankly, premiering Book 3 in the USA before any other country isn’t exactly a tough stunt to pull off. Nickelodeon has done for the first two Books, and I fully expect them to do it for Book 3 as well.

Just to serve as a reference, Book 1 premiered in April in the USA and in September in Latin America. Book 2 premiered in September in the USA and in the following February in Latin America. Clearly, Latin America has been a bit behind in terms of The Legend of Korra’s premiere dates in relation to the USA’s premiere date for each season.

I, personally, see The Legend of Korra season 3 premiering in late-July in the USA. When do you think Book 3 will premiere in the USA?

Just a reminder, if you haven’t already seen the official Book 3 trailer, check it out.

  • Emily Anderson

I love how the leak and the release month all happened in BRAZIL, though. Like, Nick USA had nothing to do with it. I can’t help but imagine them seeing all of this happening and thinking, “Finally, it’s not our fault this time!” XD

    • adri

The leak was in Nick Mexico

      • Emily Anderson

Shoot, sorry. XD It said Brazil in this article, so I got confused.

  • crystalline

    yay finally something!!!

  • crystalline

What does this mean for us?

    • Legama

That US release date wont go further than September.

      • crystalline

yeah i asked this before i read the post because i was busy. I hope it comes late July! :D

        • Legama

Yeah. Nick better release it soon :)

  • Josh

I agree! Late July seems like the most reasonable time to start airing new episodes. They’ll probably do an early screening of episode 1 at comic con, then the following week both episodes 1 and 2 will premier on actual Television. Similar to how they did Beginnings Part 1 at NYCC last year.

    • blood red rose

That would be great but I have two questions :

      1. If that did happen would nick have enough time to promote book three?

      2. And hopefully would nick change the days the episodes air ex: every Saturday or Friday?

      • Josh

Well if Nick gives a release date within the next week, and starts airing commercials by the end of this month, marketing shouldn’t be much of a problem. As for an air day, i personally would like to watch Korra on Saturday mornings

        • blood red rose

I’m not sure because nick can really be a pain in the you know what ALOT of times but within the next week … eh, not very nick like and I think everybody want to get LOK back on Saturdays.

          • Yung Nasib

saturday morning would be perfect thats where they had the most views but i doubt nick really cares about what anyone thinks including bryan and mike and the fandom

        • Yung Nasib

i get the feeling that they will release in august or maybe even in September nick has been upredicatable when it comes to korra like when they changed the timeslots

        • The Gotham Ninja

Agreed, it would so make things easier for me if Korra premiered on Saturday mornings for me though I hope I hear about it before they do, I hate when these things get by me.

        • ShatteredWorld

          I agree.

      • Link9150

To answer your question about marketing. Nick doesn’t really care about Korra’s ratings anymore. The way they juggled with its shcedule last season proves this. Now they have aired a trailer, meaning they have started marketing. TV Spots are on the way and Korra Nation will surely make a return soon.

    • Legama

Highly likely possibility. Still, more than one full month to go .-. just 6 weeks more.

    • Link9150

What you said sounds very realistic. And I would love it to happen.

    • Laneskeeper

      I agree 100% Josh.

Looks like my original prediction of May for a release month was a little off lol.

    • Laneskeeper

Josh with so many villains being introduced who do you think will be the “main” villain?

Im really stoked about this upcoming book because there are so many options the creators have left open for the second half of this book! At this time I’m not sure how this book will conclude.

  • Greenfire

I predicted a release window of May through July back when we were all placing bets. It’s getting down to the wire, but there’s still time…

  • Archeops

I bet my house it will premiere late August or early September.

    • aeri

Don’t ever make bets with Nick.

They’ll pick the most unpredictable option.

      • Archeops

I’ve never been so certain in my life.

  • Kai

I think nick leaked the episodes themselves to cause hype for the show

    • ahmedumer

i am with you think about it first Netherlands book 3 trailer got accidently released and now ep 3 4 5 6 got accidently released in spanish, its their doing i bet it.

    • ShatteredWorld

That makes, literally, no sense business wise. Or logically.

  • Legama

Cool, this really defines the top, on where the season may air. I was discusing with a friend about the possibility of a simultanious premiere on LA and the US, there’s actually a chance of that happening, but my guess is that Book 3 will air in the US on July, and then air on LA on August, maybe September.

  • Zuzu

Considering Nickelodeon mentioned Book 3 again on twitter. “Waiting for more news about Book 3″ is what they said, so it certainly isn’t out of the realm of possibility to see a release date or see some adverts popping up. I hope they do start marketing extremely soon so we can see a premiere right after comic con.

  • ahmedumer

Hmmm its look like now things are different because book 1 aired in latin america and then in USA and now it will be released in Brazil in the month of Sep so i am with you keval its going to be july.

  • Sibis

Avatar series could take the Gundam approach. This current series would be Universal Century and then alternate realities can be made (Gundam Wing) with their own world events.

One reality has humanity rise up and conquer the Spirits with bending. Several nations are at war using Spirits as weapons. So the Avatar plays a liberator role for the Spirits.

  • I think they will probably air at the same time for book 3. From what the creators have said in the past, for books 1 and 2 the episodes were still in production until just before their air date. Since they then had to be sent to the other networks to to dub before they aired, it makes sense that they aired a couple months later. But given the leaks and whatnot, it is clear that the episodes are ready for air in latin america now. There would be no reason to air them several months later.

To me this confirms what I have been thinking for a while now, Nick is trying to establish a uniform schedule. They will air book 3 in September just like they did book 2, and we can probably expect the same for book 4 regardless of when the production finishes. (though I suspect they may not release the episodes to other countries for dubbing until a little closer to the air date next time around)

  • David Ehrlich

i’m from brazil, and i didn’t see any advertising stating tha korra’s third season will be released here in september. in fact, i didn’t see any korra advertisment at all! maybe that’s because the korra fanbase here is really small compared to other nickelodeon shows. but whatever, even if they release it earlier here, i think i’ll wait and watch in in english just to hear zuko’s voice (seriously, zuko’s voice in the brazilian’s avatar dubbing is awful!)

    • Diego Moura

David, I’m from Brazil too, In fact Zuko’s dubbing actor is awful and I watch the series in English. That wouldn’t be a problem, The point is, Is Nickelodeon want to start a WORLDWIDE PREMIERE with Brazil and USA?
Which I think that will work, when Bryan said that Nick will do something special to premiere the book 3

    • Apspiderboy

It probably won’t be the same voice actor as young Zuko. It won’t be in the US at least, I’m pretty sure.

  • Diego Moura

I sent a email for you Keval, of my website, which was confirmed a Brazil premiere in September. Nickelodeon Brazil confirmed and released the article

  • Apspiderboy

I’m still thinking June 31st could be it.

    • crystalline

      wow you’re realllly optimistic…

      • Apspiderboy

        One can hope.

    • Yung Nasib

yea i still believe they will air it at the end of the month, one problem tho, they havent shown the trailer on tv, so realisticallly speaking july sounds better

  • Hi

Yes! Can’t wait till book three!

  • razorstar90

Hey what happened to the forum?

  • Excited

Maybe July 5? It’s the first Saturday in July. But since they haven’t started advertising yet, it’ll probably be July 11th, 18th, or 25th: the Saturdays in July.

  • The Gotham Ninja

Sounds about right as kids are back in school. Thats usually when new eps of stuff start up again is in the fall, for example, Power Rangers Super Megaforce starts up again in the fall due to kids being away for camp during the summer.

  • Sibis

September is about right. This means Nick can keep Avatar up for one more year if they set Book 4 to be September of next year. Then after that, they might have a new show the following year to continue Avatar.

    • Ariana Moreno

you think they’d continue avatar? i honestly thought i remember them claiming that after korra, they were gonna rest and spend more time with their families. but hey, who knows XD

      • Jess

@ariana_moreno:disqus You’re right. I also read that Mike and Bryan want to take a break after they finish Book 4 of LoK. But they expressed interest in doing an animated film in the Avatar universe in a July 2013 SDCC interview as well (they could have changed their minds, who knows), so, we’ll see! To see the interview go here: http://korraspirit.tumblr.com/post/88679333956/found-this-old-video-on-my-laptop-from-july-2013

        • Ariana Moreno

          shaweeet! thanks haha X)

      • Sibis

That’s just Mike and Bryan. Someone else could decide to push for a new show and head it.

I’m just thinking as long this new show doesn’t touch the current Avatar status quo reality aka an alternate reality.

Number of times Spiderman has different reboots and realities. Each to their own.

  • Ariana Moreno

So i was informed that Nick plans on taking a minute off of each episode starting with book 3 and continuing into book 4. When this is done, it will add up to at least one episode being taken off. Bryke even mentioned it and stated how they were disappointed but then they found a way to squeeze the story in. Nick apparently did this to have more time for advertisements. This network is officially hated by me. -_- Am i the only one who heard about this? I hope it’s just a rumor, but i was shown a comment made by bryke on tumblr i think. Nick doesn’t care about korra. Obvious to us all i’m sure. yep, because we all know shows like Sanjay and Craig are way better…

    here’s the post:

They are removing 26 minutes of screen time, its like removing a whole episode.

“Due to Nickelodeon shortening our air times, the length of the shows decreased by a minute for Books 3 & 4. At first, I was concerned we wouldn’t be able to fit all the story we wanted into the shorter length, but it ended up working out fine.”

    -Michael Dante DiMartino

i applaud bryke for being patient with this network. i’d be furious if i worked this hard on something just to have it treated like crap. i feel bad for these guys.

    • Korrava

      Nickelodeon? More like Dickelodeon.

      • Ariana Moreno

        clever haha XD

    • Sibis

If the minute counts for same old opening, previous episode recap, or any waste romance moments; I think it’s doable.

      • Sibis

        Mako: Korra, I…
*Nicklodeon cuts off to a Sanjay and Craig commercial of them choking on spicy chicken wings.*

        • Ariana Moreno

yep haha XD screw mako. and Bolin: it’s my time to shi-(sleep number commercial) XD

      • Ariana Moreno

well true. if this minute would have been used wrong, then yeah, it doesn’t matter, but you never know. the more time this show gets the better the chance of development and plot execution improving.

    • Rache

See, this is why I can’t stand it when people say the story is too rushed in the show. For the most part, it’s not their fault. They have half the episodes in each book compared to what ATLA had and I think about 3 minutes less for each episode compared to ATLA.

      • Ariana Moreno

yeah, that’s true. now i can really see what goes on behind the scenes…

    • Yung Nasib

it seems like someone who works for nick has it out for korra, idk how mike and bryke can stand them but taking a minute of off each episode sound like alot when you add it all up, i just hope the 3rd season doesnt seem rushed like the 2nd season it still looks good from the trailer, although i believe they will carry season 3′s plot into the 4th season and have this epic finale for korra

      • Ariana Moreno

yeah, i know right? nick doesnt give a flying sh*t. but it seems the creators are learning how to deal with that and act accordingly

        • Yung Nasib

yea the only reason why they are putting up with them is for the fans and so they dont cancel season 4 i respect them for that

      • Guest

If they only have 13 episodes and about 20 minutes each, then it probably will seem “rushed.” But honestly, as long as the story is well-written and the animation is as amazing as it usually is, it shouldn’t matter how rushed the story feels.

        • adri

          Yeah I feel the same

        • Yung Nasib

i know but the series is almost over and the last 2 season need to be great ya know

  • Jess

I’m almost 99.9% sure that we’ll get Book 3 in either August or September 2014. My guess is that Mike, Bryan, the rest of the production team will use the SDCC to show the trailer again, show concept art for each of the new characters, and maybe even premiere episodes 1 and/or 2 of Book 3 and give us the release date.

From what we’ve seen from Book 1, Nick/Viacom has used very poor marketing/advertising strategies when it comes to Korra. They hardly ever air commercials for the show (they only air the promos a month or so before the book premieres in most case scenarios). Besides, they don’t even acknowledge the show’s existence during its hiatus. They even go as low as to mock fans (i.e. the tweet they released the other day just proves that: https://twitter.com/NickelodeonTV/status/478630382733365248

If they were to release Book 3 a week or so after the SDCC ends, that would not give Nick/Viacom enough time to advertise the new book. I would assume they need a month or two – at least – to give them enough time to prepare everything.

What they need is a big platform – one that is widely known and attracts enough attention – to premiere Book 3 and build fan hype again. The SDCC is the perfect place to do that.

  • H

Where are the spirits, couldn’t see any in the trailer?

  • Sibis

So the Republic City Police Force are just terrible

Flashback of Toph covering for Su and retiring.

Lin as the police chief failed with her force to stop the Equalist attack at the arena. The police force failed to stop their uprising. Book 2 had Lin with the incompetent detectives which ultimately relied on a rookie cop breaking protocol and illegally go behind her back along with his younger brother who isn’t a cop to save the President.

Maybe it’s time for Lin to step down from the Police Chief position.

    • Sibis

      This is just an observation.

    • Yung Nasib

no way i disagree, personally lin makes a great police chief and she really loves her job and cares about her officers, some times she gets tricked easily like the way the arena was attacked but she made up for her mistakes

      • Sibis

I don’t think it’s a matter of Lin being tricked. They knew ahead of time the arena was going to be attacked. She jump aboard with Korra putting bender pride over public safety to keep the games going.

Equalist simply were steps ahead of the police force and Lin didn’t have her force adapt to counter them.

  • Zuzu

Nick is completely unpredictable, though many have been speculating an early release date of August It just seems like Nick is completely unaware of Korra. Nick confirms TMNTs 4th season which is due in Fall 2015 but haven’t even mentioned the Korra release date when Book 3 was due to premiere ages ago. All they are fucking doing is making us wait. If an early release were to occur then adverts should have started to pop up or KorraNation should’ve officially resumed. It is thanks to these leaks we got a trailer which had been sitting their. All Nick needed to do was not make a fucked up move of putting 4 episodes in Spanish buy should just shown us the trailer.Clearly Nick doesn’t give a shit about Korra for such a stupid move by a famous company called Nickelodeon. The same thing might happen to the entire season which Bryke and the gang put genuine hard effort into getting this season as early as possible to us the fandom but Nick screws everything up when they cant handle leaks.
In My opinion Book 3 will premiere in September. Advertising hasn’t begun but we do have a engaged fandom currently, but Nick can obviously do better with advertising this show. IMO they will start the marketing scheme which would go for 2 months and we will see a premiere in September. Although many of you have speculated a late July release, 1 month of adverts isn’t good enough and if that is true Nick either has faith with the Korra fandom or simply doesn’t give a rats ass about it. I mean Nick mocked us on Twitter, just shows how **** they are.
However my other speculation tends to make me be optimistic about Book 3s premiere. As Book 3s artbook is scheduled to be released on January the 20th it just hints on a completely early release date, it just seems like Nick have been stalling LoK release for 1-2 months now. If korra were to premiere on August 1st and conclude in early November there would be a 3 month gap for the art book. They wont release the Artbook right after book 3 concludes, as seen with book 2 which still has its art book due on September 16th. If Korra were to premiere in early September and conclude in early December then there would be a 1 month and 3/4 of a gap. Although anything can happen we are dealing with Nickelodeon.

    • crystalline

Yeah I’m kinda starting to get the feeling that they will do the same thing they did with Book 2 at this point. Reveal its release at SDCC and have it premiere in September unfortunately. It could however be different considering they already released the trailer, however I doubt it. Honestly though, you would think that if Nick really was trying to “get rid of Korra” and get it out the way they would just release everything as soon as possible and be done with it, rather than stalling it. Maybe they’re waiting for the right time, although I do doubt that. At this point, I am sure what their intentions are, but they really are being annoying and disrespectful to their fans by keeping us waiting in the dark for so long and making so many mistakes and not really addressing them. Also, where is this Korra Nation, on the Nick site?

  • crystalline

Where is Korra Nation, on the Nick site?c

  • adri

As a fan in Latin America…I have to say that the most of us downloaded all the episodes in book 1 and 2 from the internet so we never wait for the release date here…I don´t understand why the nick people don´t see this….have a 5 months gap between one country to another is not a god idea when you can download the episodes from so many sites instead….

  • Seabiscuit

I would watch the latin American ones anyways i speak spanish(and Portuguese is close enough) so either way, im getting to watch korra at least by September

  • Chris

June 27 guys nick just announced it on Twitter new video clip also

  • M

via IGN: 7pm EST Next friday!!!!!!! (June 27)

  • Cameron Hannon

So I guess Nickelodeon had to SPEED up Book 3 airing time… Its not going to wait for Comic Con. Its premiering next week. June 27th on friday…
