Legend of Korra Voice Actors back in the Studio, Has Voice Work on Book 4 Begun?

When I logged onto Twitter today, I noticed that my home feed was filled with something quite uncommon: information about The Legend of Korra. Even though I follow the voice actors on Twitter, most of the time they’re tweeting about things that are totally unrelated. Once in a blue moon, however, they do drop some sort of Korra-related tweet. Today both Janet Varney and Grey DeLisle had tweeted about The Legend of Korra and both tweets essentially confirmed that the voice work on the show was still in progress.

They didn’t really say anything about the specifics of what they’re recording, but at this point it’s either Book 3 or Book 4. All the way back in October, Seychelle Gabriel (voice of Asami) got a bit antsy on Twitter and basically confirmed the start of voice work for Book 3.

Since then, voice actors have been dropping a lot of hints about when recording (or reKorrading) was in progress. Thanks to Seychelle, it was always fairly obvious that Book 3 was being recorded, but today was the first time in a while since we were given hints about the recording schedule.

Is it possible that the recording for Book 3 is complete and Book 4 recording is underway?

The team has already had a solid 7 months to record Book 3, but even though they’ve had that much time in the recording studio, it’s tough to jump to the conclusion that Book 3’s voice work is done. I can’t imagine a scenario where we get official word about it anytime soon either. Seychelle obviously wasn’t supposed to say anything about Book 3’s recording status since her tweet was quickly deleted, so I’m sure the voice actors were told to ensure that there are no slip ups this time around.

I tweeted Janet Varney about, but I don’t really expect to get a straightforward answer from her. If I do get some sort of official information, I’ll post it, but for now I think it’s all a matter of opinion.

Do you think voice work on Book 4 has begun?

Hahaha you used rekorrading. I forgot about that. Yes I do believe recording has begun for book 4 because a while back Seychelle Gabrielle did hinted out reKorrading began for book 3.

Hang on Hang on Hang on. Wasn’t it just yesterday we were questioning the completeness of Book 2?

How did we get to Book 4 all of a sudden?

I’m just posting news as it comes.

Obviously, the show must be written before it can be recorded, and I have no idea how long that process is. I really want to believe that recording has begun on book 4, but, at the same time, I’m skeptical about the writing being finished already… I’ll look it up later and check back in…

WHY ARE THEY WASTING THERE TIME ON BOOK 3 AND 4 THEY NEED FULL POWER TO FINSH OF BOOK 2 THEN BOOK 3 AND 4 WHILE BOOK 2 STARTS

    • http://avatarthelegendofkorraonline.com/ Keval

It’s separate divisions. Doing voice work does not impact animation in any way. If they did it all separately, we’d get a new season every two years.

oh so i guees after book 2 is over we dont have to wait 20 months for a season premier oh ok :)

  • DunbansBiggestFanForever

so uh…. how about that Book 2?

      Spotting Sessions.

  • Filmeditor16

Very intersteing. I’m excited to hear voice sessions for books 3 or 4 are currently in progress! It makes the wait for new Korra a little easier that we won’t probably have to wait like this again.

that would kind of annoy me… how can they already be woking on book 4 if book 2 which is already way overdue is supposedly not finished. mmmmmggggrrrr. *wahns like a baby* I WANT BOOK 2 WAAAA!

  • IonicCompound

Maybe..just maybe they might be releasing it all in one go. So after Book 2 has aired, book 3 will come straight after and so on..

  • ashley

I think this is a good thing, cause it will make season 3 of korra come faster if they have all the rekorrading done.

I’m thinking it might be for Book 2. Janet said in her tweet that it was an ADR session, which is additional dialogue recording. That’s supposed to be where they fix any lines that were mumbled or add any ooh’s and ahh’s.

This might mean that whatever episode the ADR is for is almost done. I remember I saw a post on Bryan’s Tumblr for an ADR session with Steve Blum and Dee Bradley Baker (Amon and Tarrlok’s voice actors) back in early June, when the finale was in late June. So the time between the ADR and the episode being finished might not be too long.

That would be a good thing, because that way Book 3 and 4 will air in 2014. I wonder though if they will either make more books after will they start another sequel series about the Avatar after Korra
