When Nickelodeon used their Animation Press Event yesterday to show a clip of Book 2 to the media, I fully expected a source such as IGN to post about the clip as soon as they got the chance. You’ll be happy to know that IGN did in fact write about the clip, and the article does have some interesting Book 2 information to go over.
Unfortunately, the article did not have any sort of embedded clip in it. Instead we received a full synopsis of the clip we heard about yesterday. At the end of the synopsis, we were given information that most of us probably expected: Nickelodeon has chosen not to release the clip to the public.
At this point, I just don’t understand Nickelodeon any more. I’m sure if you asked executives why they’ve decided to keep the clip in their vault, they’ll tell you it’s because the clip isn’t finalized. They’ll say the animation on the clip isn’t complete. They wouldn’t be lying either, but according to IGN, the clip looked pretty darn good.
Why not just post it on the internet, is it really that much trouble?
But whatever, I’ll wait. I’m so used to it at this point. Anyways, here is the synopsis of the clip directly from IGN:
The sequence we saw found Korra battling one of these spirits, initially just seen as dark tentacles, surrounded by a purple energy, coming out of the ground on a hillside. Korra asks, “Spirit, why are you so angry? What have we done to offend you?” only for the tentacles to violently knock her aside, as they do to anyone else who attempts to help her, including Tenzin and an adult, male Water Tribe member I didn’t recognize at a glance.
Then, the full octopus-like creature rises out of the ground, and begins moving down the hill, utlimately crashing through a fence into a carnival being held, as Korra pursues it. On the offense, Korra shoots the creature with fireballs and begins to get the upper hand, but she is suddenly grabbed by one of its tentacles, and smashed down into the ground. And… we cut to black, for now.
Besides the unfortunate fact that this author does not know how to spell “ultimately”, this synopsis makes Book 2 sound really exciting. Hopefully we get some more visual information in the near future.
