As most of you probably already know, the Nickelodeon Upfront 2014 will be held today in New York later this afternoon.
Up until earlier this morning, an exact time for the event was unknown. Fortunately for us, an announcement was made confirming that the Upfront will be held at 4:30 PM EST. At the time of this publishing, we’re approximately two hours away from the Upfront and about three hours away from getting any kind of news.
It all depends on when The Legend of Korra is brought up at the event. If Nickelodeon covers The Legend of Korra first, we’ll obviously get news quicker as opposed to if Nickelodeon covers The Legend of Korra last.
I’ve heard a lot of different things in terms of expectations for the Upfront. They’re all obviously opinionated expectations, but I thought I’d shout them out while we wait for the event to start. Like me, many people are expecting a trailer and release date. I’ve also run into many people who are expecting a trailer and release month. There aren’t too many fans expecting one or the other, but I have run into quite a few who are expecting nothing. Most of those people are citing last year’s debacle as a reason for why we should expect nothing from the Nickelodeon Upfront. My response would be that Book 3 is far closer to being completed than Book 2 was this time last year.
Another thing I hope to learn from the Upfront is the time slot for Book 3. I’m not very confident that it will be announced, but if it is, I’ll be very disappointed if it doesn’t retain its initial Saturday morning time slot. To be quite frank, the Friday night time was terrible. Consider this your open thread to discuss the Upfront. Please refrain from Rick Rolling fellow posters, as they will be deleted.
